Posted Breed: Greyhound / Feist (short coat). Sarafina Playful Guy! Erkel is a fun loving guy who spent a great deal of time in a shelter in TN waiting for his chance. It finally came and he is enjoying his freedom. He loves to run. Well, yes, he is part Greyhound! And because of this, only applicants with a fenced yard will be considered for the sake of safety. He is about 5 years old. His coat is very unique-- a real beautiful dog. He is working on walking on a leash without the fancy zig zag walk. Erkel will make a wonderful family dog for your active family. He loves his fun but always settles down and lays by your side. His adoption fee is $275.00. If you are interested in any of our dogs, please complete an application at www.betterdaysarecominginc.org. We are looking for wonderful homes for so many dogs. Won't you please help? If you have any questions, feel free to call or text Carlise at 716-335-0045. PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in any of our dogs, please fill out an application. An interested adopter with a tentatively approved application always takes precedence over someone who calls or emails us. You will not be obligated if you fill out an application. However, it shows us you are serious and we can check that you sound like a good fit for that particular dog. If you fill out an application and get an error message, scroll back to the top to see what caused the error. In most cases, people left an item blank. You must write something for every item, even if it is n/a.

Greyhound

A.K.A. : English Greyhound

Breed Group: Hound
Weight (lbs): male: 65-70, female: 60-65
Height (in): 27-30
Colors: Immaterial (includes black, gray, red, fawn, either solid or brindled, either whole colored or spotted).
Coat: Is smooth, close and short-haired. Firm in texture.
Character: Greyhounds are very sociable. When indoors, these dogs are lazy and relaxed. Outside, they show their high energy and stamina for action. Very intelligent, the breed is very closely bonded to their family.

Training: This breed is easy to train as long as the training is consistent and on task.
Activity: The Greyhound needs to run and walk for long distances every day.
Country of Origin: United Kingdom
Health Issue: This breed is prone to bloat, hip dysplasia, and ear infections. They may also have entropion, where the eyelids turn inward.
Life Expectancy: 10-12

More About Greyhound Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: West Highland White Terrier Westie (long coat). Sarafina Bailey is a very sweet 12 year old purebred West Highland White terrier. He is in rescue due to know fault of his own, his owner passed away and he found himself all alone. He is quite large bodied for his breed. He came in weighing 33 lbs, with rolls of fat on his chest and tummy. We've been working on his weight with smaller food portions and exercise. He is currently down to 29 lbs. and seems to be firming up. Better Days would like to see him at 24 / 25 lbs and then reevaluate. He will never be 15-20 lbs like the breed standard, he is too large for that. Bailey is very friendly, smart, and happy go lucky and still has lots of life to live. Gets along great with dogs and cats in his foster home. Bailey does have a strong prey drive when it comes to birds and squirrels, he will need a fully fenced yard in his adoptive home. Bailey's adoption donation is 175.00 He is neutered, Rabies, dhpp, heartworm negative, on heartworm and flea prevent If interested in adopting please go to our web site and put in an application at www.betterdaysarecominginc.org

Posted Breed: Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Sarafina Hi, my names Jack and I am in need of a home! My owners in KY were not very nice to me and had tied me up to the porch and just left me there. They seemed to forget about me at times and this included feeding me. I was lucky I would get scraps every now and again.. I mean I do have an issue with marking but I never thought they would just leave me outside tied up to a railing. I wouldn't have minded wearing a diaper (belly band) while I am inside and if they only would have neutered me when I was a young pup this would never had been an issue.. Some training and consistency would have been much better for me!!! I am a very sweet and loving boy. I do listen well and I even can keep you busy playing fetch with me!! I was told I am great at catching a ball and when I bring it back drop it for another run!! I would make a wonderful friend for a child to hang with as well. I'm not the best with other dogs or cats even but love children. I also love toys and don't even mind playing catch myself and watching me play is hilarious!I am about 1 to 1 1/2 years old. I weigh only about 12 to 15 lbs. Better Days has been working on fattening me up!!! I am now neutered, have my rabies, dhpp vaccine, dewormed heartworm negative and am on flea and heartworm prevent! Jack's adoption donation is 250.00 If you have a place in your heart and are willing to help me I would be so great full.

We had ringworm and your normal puppy worms but have been fully treated and are doing great!! Better Days are Coming was willing to take us in right away and has been taking care of us however they are not 100% our breed but we do look houndish and looking through pictures we look like we can be lab / beagle looking puppies. We are not huge at 8 weeks we are a litter of 10 so makes them think a larger breed dog is involved but we only weigh right now between 3 1/2 lbs and 6 lbs, There are 6 girls and 4 boys. 5 of us are on the bigger side at about 6 to 6 1/2 lbs and the other 5 of us are smaller at 3 1/2 to 4 lbs. Posted Breed: Jack Russell Terrier / Chihuahua / Mixed (medium coat). Sarafina His life was turned upside-down! My brother, Tom and I need someone to love us forever. We can't be separated. We look out for each other and even curl up in one dog bed for our snoozes. Here we are, starting all over at our age. Life is sometimes unfair. But we love life. And like all dogs, we are living in the moment and are happy. We are having fun in our foster home. We are older gents, about 11 or 12 years old. Here is our story. ALL ABOUT TIM AND TOM The boys came up from KY 4 years ago on a rescue transport. They were in terrible shape. Their fur was missing in large areas of their bodies. Their ears were infected, their teeth were rotten and they were underweight. Tim was blind and Tom rushed about him to make sure he didn't bump into things. We think they are brothers, probably having spent their lives together. They were and are very bonded to each other and must be adopted together. It took us one year to find them a good Home. During that year, we got them in good shape with dentals where they lost a total of 33 teeth between them. They needed 3 baths per week to soothe their skin. Eventually the fur grew back and they looked stunning! And we were able to fundraise enough money for Tim to have cataract surgery in his left eye. Many of the drivers on the rescue transport remembered the boys as they had looked so sickly and sad. They were very generous with donations to help. Tim can now see and just loves running around. It turns out, he is quite the athlete. His vision in the right eye could not be restored as there was already retinal damage. The boys were difficult to find a home for because Tim does not do well with other dogs and he barks at and chases cats. They would be fine with kids. T and T were recently returned to our rescue because their parents were finding it difficult to care for them financially. They also were planning a cross country move that they felt would be difficult on them as well as the boys. To their credit, they called us up and T and T were able to return to their previous foster home and adjusted to the change beautifully. Tim and Tom weigh about 17 pounds each. They are happy little boys and are quite healthy. They are housetrained. They both have been to the vets since their return and are up to date on their vaccines. Tom needed another dental and is now toothless. Tim has about 8 teeth left. They both have good appetites and always lick their food bowls clean. Tim is slightly loud with a shrill bark as they head outside so they may not do well in close quarters with a fussy neighbor. They did do fine in an apartment in their last home, I assume without complaints. They are both sun worshippers as you can see in the pictures. I cannot possibly describe how wonderful these 2 boys are. I have had so many foster dogs in my home over the years. But watching these boys regain their health and happiness was very special for me. I kept in touch with their new family and had their picture on my refrigerator. I am looking for someone who will give these boys a permanent loving home. We are looking for more than just a good home but a home that will show these two unconditional love for the rest of their lives. To apply, please go to www.betterdaysarecominginc.org. Call or text Margaret at 716-480-4357 if you have any questions. Be sure to check out Tom's listing, also for additional pictures.
