Description
Posted Breed: Poodle (unknown type). Looks like: Poodle Mix Male, 7 years old (estimated), 17 pounds Max is a true poodle--wherever you are, that's where he'd most like to be! He thrives on company, both human and canine. He gets along well with just about everyone he meets, and one of his dearest friends is his neighbor's pit bull. Max hasn't had the opportunity to mingle with any cats, but we suspect he'd be just as welcoming to them as he is to other species! Max is a quiet fellow who'd love to spend his time curled up beside you while you work, or out exploring the neighborhood with you on a leisurely walk. He has a calm demeanor, though he does get a little nervous about going to the salon to have his curls trimmed. (You just never know how your hairdo is going to turn out!) Otherwise, Max has a way of making friends and making himself at home everywhere he goes. Max's guardian rescued him a little less than a year ago, but sadly due to her own health she is no longer able to care for him. Max is looking for another kind soul to share their heart, their home, and hopefully their cozy couch with him!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
