More About Doberman Pinscher Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: Doberman Pinscher
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Doberman Pinscher. Looking for the perfect dog? Here he is! Scorpio is SO awesome in every way! He is a purebred black and tan Doberman, docked and cropped male, 7 years young. He is a real nice guy who gets along with most other dogs, and loves the lady dogs. He has a gentle demeanor and loves to be very close, actually touching, his people. He is so well behaved in the house we have not had to crate him as he does very well free roam, just tell him to lay on his bed and he will! He is not a chewer and has excellent potty manners. He would like a home with no cats! Scorpio has mastered the Doberman lean and loves to cuddle, touch or be very close to his people, he will even bump your hand for a pet! He has successfully completed heart worm treatment, is now testing heart worm negative (and on preventative), and is done (!) with his extensive dental work (he had 7 teeth extracted that were bad!) and is ready to find his happy ever after! He is neutered, micro-chipped and current on vaccines. Scorpio is the MOST loyal and gentle dog you will ever find, and needs a home that likes a Doberman who follows his people everywhere, yes, even into the bathroom, and wants to touch them 24/7. Scorpio is one boy who will not let you leave his sight, unless of course he has found a squirrel that needs to be treed. Scorpio currently weighs in at 80 pounds, just the perfect size for a male and really is almost the perfect companion. Please apply if interested in giving a home to this very handsome and happy boy!

      Bella

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Doberman Pinscher
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). Bella is a 7 year old spayed female. She was living in a home with 12 other dogs and does well with new dogs if introduced slowly. Bella does have a strong personality and would do best with another male dog or passive female. Bella does well with children, rides fantastic in cars, even on long distances and is a very affectionate girl. Bella is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, micro chipped, heart worm negative and recently had her teeth cleaned. She has good recall but would benefit from some formal obedience training. Bella does great at the dog park and would love to go every day to stay in shape as she is in need of daily exercise; Bella is currently overweight at 100 pounds, has been found to have hypothyroidism, and is on a low cost, twice daily medication to treat this very common condition in Dobermans. Bella would love to find her forever home! Her adoption fee is $300.00. Please apply if you are interested in Bella!

      Viggo

      rescue
      Breed: Doberman Pinscher
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Doberman Pinscher. Viggo here! I am an 8 year old senior boy who is looking for a new home. I so loved my master and she tried really hard to do the best ever for me, but it was time. Yes, she took the best care of me, fed me, vetted me, and I loved her so and she loved me. She was really, really sick with something you humans call cancer. I could see how it was getting harder and harder for her every day to do simple stuff for both of us. UDR promised both my mom and me that I would find another home that would love me just as much as my mom loved me. More about me....I am a senior boy but can still run like the wind in short burst! I do like to go for walks and might even play ball for a couple throws. I might come off as cranky, growly, barky at first meeting but I completely understand, No means NO, and just tell me "knock it off" and I will stop my grumbling. I am a bit of a Grumpy Grandpa with a sweet center! That's what my foster mom says anyways. With my first mom, I was in charge of caring for moms safety in my previous life as it was just us and the little's, so made sure I alerted her to new people, dogs, or anything that might be of concern. I feel this is my job and will do this in my next forever home to help you out. Oh yes, the littles.... I did live with small yippy, yappy dogs and we co-habitated well. In my foster home I have greeted the farm cats and rabbit with nothing but a passing glance, although I did bark at the geese but decided they were no threat and went on my way exploring. I am a great car rider and leaner. I have been trained to carry a back pack as mom always needed an extra hand and that was me! She would just say" BRACE VIGGO" and I knew it was time to put my backpack on and help her with something important. She would fill it with supplies and what ever stuff she needed a hand with and I would get it to the place she needed it. Sometimes we would just go for a nice walk. I was her helper for sure! Speaking of hands......... If you have an extra hand to pet me that would be my heaven. I am fully vetted, but do take a low cost daily thyroid meds for hypothyroidism. If you are interested in a low energy, senior, been there done that Doberman, we might be a good fit!
