    Tortie

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Tortie's foster mom just adores her ... as you can tell from the way she writes about her :-) "This pup has personality plus! She gets along great with my male and female dogs, but her ideal companion would be a mellow guy who doesn't mind a little sister who steals his toys. Tortie rings the bells on the door when she has to go out, and she just loves to be in the yard (she's a great gardening buddy!), so a home with a physical fence would be ideal for her." "Best of all, Tortie is SO smart! She is very treat-motivated and quickly learns anything you want to teach her; she would love a family who will take her to classes to learn even more. She is crate-trained, but rarely needs to be in her crate anymore because she's so well-behaved. I have to admit, this is one foster dog that I would keep if I could — she's just that wonderful!" Now 5 years old and weighing in at 56 lbs., this happy, playful girl is spayed, microchipped and eager to meet her new family — could it be yours? Please stop by an upcoming Meet & Greet to find out if Tortie is the right pet for you! (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) Cindy

    rescue
    Breed: Boxer-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300. "Pick me! Pick me!" Cindy is all eager smiles, tail wags and wiggly-jiggly dance moves when she sees folks coming her way along the kennel run. She tries so very hard to make sure you notice her — this super-friendly pup doesn't want to be lost in the crowd! And frankly, not only does this 9 year old charmer NOT get lost in the crowd, she's sure to stand out! Sporting a lovely deep brindle jacket and a broad, warm smile, sweet Cindy is a bubbly, engaging lady ready to steal your heart. She's always eager to climb into your lap or show off her oh-so-pettable belly as she rolls with delight in the grass. Here's what her temporary foster mom down south told us about her: "Cindy is absolutely loving with every human she's met. She's a little TOO interested in cats, however, so a cat-free home would be best for Cindy." Cindy's foster mom told us she's doing wonderfully there, too: "Cindy loves, loves, loves to be around people! She is a gentle, sweet girl who walks very nicely on the leash. Her idea of heaven would be a home where someone is around the house most of the day, as she's not fond of being crated or otherwise contained ... and she loves having 'people company' more than anything. She's an eager-to-please girl who is great with kids, housetrained, laid-back and mellow." Cindy is dog-selective. She's fine with the foster's other dog but has issues with some others so she would do best as an only dog. Want to learn more? Please e-mail us or stop by an upcoming Meet & Greet to find out if Cindy is the right canine for you! Esther

    Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Hound / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $300. Esther was turned in as an owner surrender. She came in with three other dogs.Their owner was no longer able to care for them due to health problems. She is very timid but is trying to warm up. 37lbs; 2-3 yrs old; lab mix. More about me March 14:Esther found herself surrendered to the shelter in November with 3 other dogs when their owner developed health issues and was no longer able to care for them. Esther was timid when she first arrived and couldn't understand what had happened to the home she was used to. Our dedicated staff and volunteers have worked to help her with her confidence and Esther is starting to open up and put her brave face on. When she finds her forever home Esther will surely blossom like a flower that finds the sunshine. She's met other dogs, both male and female, and been a friend to all. Esther enjoys when volunteers come to visit her and spend time with her just to help build her confidence. She knows the staff and volunteers are her friends but nothing beats a forever home of her very own. Check out this gentle loving girl who's fondest wish would be to live the rest of her days in a home like she had been used to. More about me March 18: If a family or person can take a dog with a somewhat more timid nature, Esther would be a good choice. One of our vet techs has been regularly taking her into the office area where she will slowly explore around. She has started to walk on a leash as well. Esther will now come to the front of her kennel when this vet tech comes to take her out. Esther is very gentle natured. There are cats in the office and she's not reacting to them. Esther will do best in a home with another dog/dogs. Esther will be joining Almost Home after she's treated for heartworm. ETA will probably be late May or June. Please check back here to see when she'll be arriving ... and then stop by an upcoming Meet & Greet to find out if Esther is the right one for you!
