Chihuahua Dog For Adoption in Huddleston, VA, USA

    Nemo

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Chihuahua
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua. Hi … my name is Nemo and here are some things you need to know about me: Approximate age/birthdate: born ~2009 Weight/size: 14 lbs Housebroken: YES (still wants to be top dog so may still try to mark territory) Crate trained: YES Personality: reserved, cautious of strangers, protective of those he loves Energy level: medium Fenced yard required?: DEFINITELY PREFERRED Does he/she jump fences? NO Leash walk: YES Obedience training: Knows ‘sit’ Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK … gets a little stressed at first Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: He tolerates most dogs 20 lbs and under and he just avoids larger dogs … but he really does not want any of them invading his personal space. He will growl and snap to warn them off. Social with cats: Do not know … hasn’t been around cats Good with children: Has not been around children in foster care, but given his personality he would probably tolerate older (10 yrs and older), well-mannered, respectful children who would respect his space and play with him kindly. He does not like to be grabbed or restrained/held by anyone. Adoption donation: $75 Early in life Nemo was in a household with lots of other little dogs. Then for a while he was an only pup and he decided he needed to be the guardian/protector of his two special people … to the point of being unpleasant to others. Due to some serious health issues in his human family, he is now back with AAMR and they are heartbroken. It’s easy to see that he still misses them, too, and is confused about what has happened. He really seems to love people and now, back in foster care with other dogs around, he is not protective of his foster family. Nemo loves belly rubs, and he loves to nap on the pillows of a human’s bed, but he is not particularly a lap dog. And he does not like being forced to do anything that he doesn’t want to. He is a smart boy and he responds best to positive reinforcement. He will do best in a moderately active household where people who have time to spend with him, but who will not encourage or allow him to become overprotective. Nemo really misses having people of his very own, and he is ready to become part of a new family who will love him forever. If you think Nemo might be the perfect pup for you, please go to .allamericanmuttrescue/forms and complete your adoption application online. We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Nemo picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please feel free to email weluvpupshotmail if you have additional questions.

    Breed: Chihuahua
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Here are some very important things you need to know about Jackson JACKSON IS A SPECIAL NEEDS PUP. HE IS VERY TIMID AND NEEDS A HOME THAT IS LOW-KEY AND WHERE HE WILL BE GIVEN THE GIFT OF TIME TO DEVELOP TRUST WITH NEW PEOPLE AND PLACES. Approximate age/birthdate: born ~2010 Weight/size: 15 lbs Housebroken: YES … if you let him out regularly, there aren’t accidents Crate trained: Will stay in his crate with no problem but will potty in the crate unless you take him out regularly. Personality: shy, reserved, definitely a special needs boy at this point Energy level: low to medium Fenced yard required?: YES (absolutely no exceptions - he will run) Does he/she jump fences? NO but he is a climber and a definite flight/escape risk – a runner. Leash walk: YES Obedience training: No Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: YES (he needs to have another small, confident dog in the home with him) Social with cats: YES Good with children: Not at this point in time Adoption donation: $100 Jackson was picked up as a stray by Animal Control and did his time in the pound. He was terrified and still (after several years) is very frightened of many things. He is a sweet boy, not at all aggressive, but he is extremely fearful and is always in 'flight' mode. He is not comfortable with attention being 'focused' on him and he will do his best to find a way to hide. Jackson still hasn't learned to enjoy snuggling and cuddling, and we're sad for him. There is so much anxiety in his little life, and we're still trying to break the code to help him know all he needs to do is relax and enjoy life with people who love him. He is more comfortable around low-key, confident dogs than he is around people and we are sure he will do better in a home where he has another dog around to be the 'leader' for him. We are looking for a very special family for this sweet boy. We don’t know what traumas he has suffered in his young life, but we do see signs that with time and the love and patience of some special humans, he can learn to feel secure again. If you think Jackson might be the perfect pup for you, please go to .allamericanmuttrescue, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online. Please review our adoption process at .allamericanmuttrescue/info/adoption and contact us if you have questions about the process. When your reference checks are completed and your application is tentatively approved, we will schedule a home visit and a meet-and-greet to see if Jackson picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption contract to be signed and a requested adoption donation. Breed: Shih Tzu
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shih Tzu. Hi … my name is Zeus and here are some things you need to know about me! After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to .allamericanmuttrescue/forms and complete your adoption application online. Zeus is definitely a cute little guy, but he has been a ‘frequent flyer’ at the local doggy jail because he seems to like to wander. He thinks being so cute will get him off the hook. He is loving (once he gets to know you and trusts you), but he is NOT a snuggly lapdog. He is pretty quiet for a little guy. He does well with other dogs, as long as people take time to properly introduce them! He is not a true lap dog, and he doesn't demand, require or even like lots of in-your-face attention. He does prefer a calm, laid back environment. A new family will need to have lots of patience to let him get used to new people. Approximate age/birthdate: born ~2012 Weight/size: 15 lbs Housebroken: YES (as long as you do your part and let him out often) Crate trained: YES Personality: a little reserved, takes some time to warm up to new people. If anyone tries to crowd his space too quickly, he will snap. He will never be a dog that anyone can just run up to and grab. Energy level: medium to low Fenced yard required?: YES (a physical fence, no underground fence) so he can have a safe place to wander and explore off-leash. He does have a history of wandering! Does he/she jump fences? NO Leash walk with manners: YES Obedience training: No but he does listen well - responds well to positive interaction Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: YES Social with cats: Curious about them but doesn’t seem to want to hurt them Good with children: NO KIDS (he will nip if anyone gets in his space/face when he is not ready) Adoption donation: $175 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Zeus picks you too. Hi … my name is Beethoven and here are some things you need to know about me: Approximate age/birthdate: April 23, 2017 Weight/size: ~50 lbs Housebroken: Working on it … about 90% there Crate trained: YES Personality: a little timid at first … takes a little time to warm up to new people, but very sweet, playful, pretty happy Energy level: medium with bursts of high when he has a playmate Fenced yard required?: YES … definitely preferred so he has a safe place to explore and play off-leash. Does he/she jump fences? NO Leash walk: YES … he is learning … still needs to learn to not pull Obedience training: Knows ‘sit’ Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK … gets a little stressed at first Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: YES … he is submissive and easily intimidated Social with cats: Will bark at the cats and would chase them Good with children: Has not been around children in foster care but we think he would be fine with older, respectful children. He likes to play but is not so keen on people rough-housing him. Adoption donation: $175 Beethoven came to us from another rescuer, and she absolutely loved him. He is a really sweet boy, and he usually seems to be pretty happy no matter what is going on. Beethoven is a little anxious in new situations, but he seems to adapt to whatever you need him to do. He is treat-motivated so offering treats makes it easier for him to loosen up a little! What he really wants is a family with lots of love and plenty of time to spend with him. Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Here are some very important things you need to know about BeBe: I am (according to my foster mom) a very sweet, shy girl with lots of love to give! I love my foster family - they broke me out of doggy jail when I was a little puppy. I try so hard to make everyone happy, and everyone has been really nice to me, but so far no one has wanted to take me home. I would really love to have a family to call my very own. And a family with a nice fenced yard will make me super happy! I try to use my best house manners all the time. Foster Mom says I am a smart and snuggly girl! I love attention and lots of 'good girls' and I will be very ‘loyal.’ Could I be a happy, wiggly, snuggly addition to your family? Approximate age/birthdate: ~ December 2013 Weight/size: ~ 55-60 lb Housebroken: YES as long as you do your part Crate trained: YES … she can do overnight without any accidents Personality: a bit shy until she knows you, happy, sweet, loving Energy level: Medium with bursts of high … she’s a sweet girl, but will benefit from some consistent one-on-one training Fenced yard required?: YES … she absolutely needs a place to run and play safely off-leash. It is also necessary to keep the neighbor's cats and the community squirrels safe! Does he/she jump fences? NO Leash walk: YES Obedience training: Knows ‘sit’ Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK but does get a little nervous at first Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: YES – at least with her foster siblings. She (as with any dog) should be properly introduced to any new dogs before being allowed to run free with them Social with cats: NO CATS … she barks at them and we are sure she would chase them Good with children: She seems to like children as long as they are calm and gentle with her. Again ... proper introduction is the key. Posted Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Here are some very important things you need to know about Izzy When I was just a baby, I ended up in doggy jail. I was scared but a lady came and took me and a few more pups to live in something called foster homes. Just felt like living with a famiy to me. I was so very happy, and my foster mom says I am a sweet, loving pup who needs to be with an active person or family who will include me in family activities. I like to play so I would really like to have a fenced yard so we can have fun outside. I've met some children at some of our events ... and I think I like them. The ones I have met have been really nice to me. I am an active and loving girl and I try really hard to listen and use nice manners. I have so much love to give and I will do my best to make you smile! Could you be my forever family??? Approximate age/birthdate: ~ October 2013 Weight/size: 50 - 55 lbs Housebroken: YES … as long as you do your part taking her outside Crate trained: YES Personality: a typical rowdy, playful lab mix pup who just wants to be played with and loved Energy level: Medium with bursts of high … although she does settle down nicely once she’s had a good play Fenced yard required?: YES … she needs a safe place to run and play off-leash Does he/she jump fences? NO Leash walk: YES Obedience training: Knows ‘sit’ Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: YES but should be slowly and properly introduced to new friends. As with all dogs, proper introductions are the key. Social with cats: NO CATS ... She barks at the cats and would chase them Good with children: We think she would be good with children 8 and over … old enough and large enough not to be intimidated by her lab-happy energy. We have seen her calm appropriately to meet and greet younger children which has been very endearing. Hi … my name is Lady and here are some things you need to know about me: Approximate age/birthdate: ~ November 30, 2014 Weight/size: ~35 lbs Housebroken: Working on it ... she does well when you do your part Crate trained: YES … doing great overnight in her crate Personality: happy, energetic, playful, friendly Energy level: medium with bursts of high Fenced yard required?: YES … she has energy and needs a space to run off-leash. She does not like to be left alone outside and will scale a fence in a minute, so she needs to be supervised at all times. Does he/she jump fences? YES ... she can jump or climb a 5' fence Leash walk: YES … getting better every day on-leash. Obedience training: Would benefit from a beginner obedience class Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: YES … she has energy that is too much for some dogs, but she is just playful Social with cats: She is curious about cats. If they run, she would chase. Good with children: Has not been around children in foster care but would probably be fine with older children. Her size and energy might be too much for most younger children Adoption donation: $175 Lady was a stray taken in by a Good Samaritan who could not keep her due to the fact that she already had several pets of her own. The person, however, was quite ‘taken’ by Lady’s sweet temperament and loving personality so she asked AAMR if we could take her in and be sure she found a perfect, loving home. We’re not really sure of Lady’s mix … probably some hound maybe mixed with some terrier. Whatever the mix, this girl is sweet and loving and she sooooo wants to be near you and have you love on her. Breed: Boxer-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Hi … my name is Mango Grace and here are some things you need to know about me: Mango was a stray who ‘picked’ a family that she found. All the people in the family loved her, but Mango’s high energy and exuberance proved to be too much for their older dogs. Her play style with other dogs is rough-tumble and in-your-face, and not all other dogs are OK with that. Once she trusts you, she is a velcro dog with her people. She still needs more socialization before she can be a 'go everywhere' dog. Mango will thrive with a new family with people who have time to spend with her, who are willing to get training for her, who are willing to make sure she gets plenty of exercise … who are willing to love her and work with her to become the best dog she can be. Could that be you? Please read the rest of Mango Grace's bio below to learn more about her! If you think Mango might be the perfect pup for you, please go to .allamericanmuttrescue, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online. Approximate age/birthdate: born ~ April 2015 Weight/size: 45-50 lbs Housebroken: YES (if you do your part letting her out regularly) Crate trained: YES Personality: busy, wary of new people at first, playful Energy level: very energetic, rough and tumble play style Fenced yard required?: YES ... No Exceptions. Mango would be a danger to neighborhood cats and possibly small dogs. She has a high prey drive. Does he/she jump fences? NO (but she could if she wanted to) Leash walk: YES … high energy so will still pull Obedience training: Knows ‘sit’ Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK … gets a little stressed at first Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: NO but a chip will be provided Social with other dogs: YES but she is selective about her friends and not all other dogs are tolerant of her unfiltered energy. Slow, proper introductions to any new dogs is a MUST with her. She does not do well with smaller dogs. Social with cats: NO CATS … she plays far too rough and has a high prey drive Good with children: Her energy may be overwhelming for small children. Will be better with children 12 years old and up Adoption donation: $175 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. Posted Breed: Dachshund / Mixed. Hi … my name is Dillon and here are some things you need to know about me: We don’t know a lot about Dillon other than that a Good Samaritan took him in to keep him safe after he appeared to have been abandoned on a rural road. His Good Sam said he sat in one spot on the road for several days and appeared to be waiting for his ‘ride’ to come back to get him. After about 4 days, he gave up and went looking for food and water, which he found in her garage! We are not really sure of Dillon’s breed mix, but he is adorable. He has a dachshund-like body (long and low) with the head of a tiny yellow lab! Dillon really deserves a family who wants to help him develop some confidence and some manners so he can be the lucky dog he is meant to be. He is very excitable and vocal when left alone for too long and will not be the best apartment resident. Dillon's wish list includes 1) a fenced yard, 2) an active family willing to play with him and teach him how to be the best boy ever and 3) people to cuddle with every day. Could that be you? Please read the rest of Dillon's bio below so you can learn more about him. If you think Dillon might be the perfect pup for you, please go to .allamericanmuttrescue/forms and complete your adoption application online. Approximate age/birthdate: ~ early 2015 Weight/size: ~20 lbs Housebroken: YES ... as long as you do your part and let him outside often Crate trained: YES Personality: happy, playful, guarded in new situations, wary of new people and animals Energy level: medium Fenced yard required?: YES – he definitely needs a safe place to run off excess energy. Until he has training and will consistently come when called, a fenced yard is required. Does he/she jump fences? NO Leash walk: YES Obedience training: No … but he is a smart little guy and learns quickly Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: Somewhat ... once properly introduced. He gets excited when meeting new dogs and does not like dogs getting in his face. He will growl if a new dog gets in his face. Once he has time to properly meet a new dog, he generally does fine. He definitely needs some obedience training to polish his meet-and-greet manners Social with cats: Do not know … has not been around cats. We think he would chase them if they ran, but not sure if he would try to harm them. Good with children: No Children ... he has nipped at children Adoption donation: $175 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. Approximate age/birthdate: 5-21-18 Weight/size: ~15 lbs (adult size guesstimated to be around 25 lbs) Housebroken: Working on it … she does great as long as you do your part and take her out often. Crate trained: YES Personality: happy, playful puppy, sweet, energetic Energy level: medium with bursts of high Fenced yard required?: Definitely preferred because she is so young and she needs lots of exercise to make her a tired and happy pup! Walks (even long ones) will probably not wear her out. Does he/she jump fences? NO Leash walk with manners: Working on it. She still pulls when she gets excited but she is a smart little one and she listens and takes correction well. Obedience training: No, but we think she would be a star in an obedience class with her new pet parent! Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: YES … she is a little excitable and may be ‘worrisome’ to older, more settled dog … but she is just playful Social with cats: Would definitely chase cats if they ran and would want to play with them if they sat still. They might not appreciate her puppy energy. Good with children: Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. Adoption donation: $175 Oh my … this girl is just too cute and sweet. Does that adorable face make you smile? We’re not sure exactly what mix she is, but she is a little long and sorta low and definitely happy. She can get vocal when she gets excited, she gives the best kisses, and she sleeps quietly through the night. She would absolutely love to have an active family who will take her everywhere with them. She wants to be loved and treated like an important family member. Could your family be the one for her??? We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Sydney picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please feel free to email weluvpupshotmail if you have additional questions.
