Posted Breed: English Setter (medium coat). Hello there! My name is Johnny Angel and I am a handsome 8-9-year-old gentleman ready to find his furever home! Johnny wasn’t always my name. I was found as a stray in Florida and ended up in a shelter. When my foster Mom heard about me she decided I needed a name because I shouldn't be called ‘no name boy in Florida’. On my way to my foster home I hitched an 8-hour ride with Auntie Sharon - who said I was an angel and now I am JOHNNY ANGEL You need to know a few things about me: I love gentle pets and will climb in your lap when invited I have discovered dog beds - great place to nap I have no interest in toys but give me a bone and I am in heaven I need eye drops 2x/day for dry eye. This is new to me, but I am getting better at letting you do this and some peanut butter afterwards helps too! This is something that was neglected in my previous life, so I am partially blind in my left eye. Mom doesn’t think I lived with dogs prior to coming to her house, but I get along with my foster brother & sister. I try to play with them, but they don't want to play. Mom says they are old and not to take it personally. Sometimes my foster siblings scare me if they walk past me, over me or if my back is to them when I’m sleeping. You see, I am also partially deaf and sadly, I admit that I growl at them. I can hear high registers, but the low ones are lost. Mom is getting good at talking and calling to me in a soprano voice. So, I hope you understand that you have to be a little careful about surprising me. I am learning to sit for treats and biscuits - and I haven't counter surfed in weeks. We are trying to get my bathroom habits in a routine. Mom thinks I had a doggie door in my past because I don't know how to ask to go out. We are working on this but in the meantime, I go out every 4 hours with the senior residents. I am good overnight, but I need to go out first thing in the morning. I hope that if you would like to adopt me that you know I need you to be patient - it took me a week before I felt comfortable enough to be social with Mom. I am a little guy - 37 pounds - and my puppy energy is long gone. I would be good for a person who likes to hang out & cuddle and doesn't need an active dog. Please think about adopting me - I would love to have a furever home!

Posted Breed: Pointer / Hound / Mixed (short coat). This adorable guy is Whopper. He is 9 months old who, along with his 10 litter mates, was rescued from KY. We aren’t sure what he’s mixed with, but he is adorable and sure to steal your heart. One thing we DO know is that he is an extra special dog! As a typical young pup, Whopper has boundless energy and loves to spend lots of time running in the yard. He also LOVES playing with his fur siblings. They are a group of young dogs and enjoy many chasing games, tug-of-war, and ball throws. Even though Whopper at 50# is the largest of the group, he plays nicely with all the dogs. He is even very kind to his small senior fur sibling that barks at him at times in a very unkind manner. He just ignores him and moves along. He is happiest when he also has his humans in the yard and will keep you company for any playtime or yard work. He is a VERY social dog! Whopper is a happy go lucky guy that loves everyone, and it seems like his tail is always wagging. When he gets excited he will at times jump up, but it’s rare. We are told that he likes cats but we don’t have any at our house. An enclosed yard of some type is important for Whopper. He was quickly trained to our invisible fence and has never challenged the boundaries. If he gets close a simple, “careful” will cause him to move away from the line. He is very smart and quickly learned to look for the flags to help him establish the border. While spending time outside is important to Whopper he does enjoy time in the house. He will quickly jump on the sofa and ask for a good belly rub. When he isn’t playing with a fur sibling he will lay down and chew on a bone or toy. Whopper loves to be petted and sticks fairly close to you in the house and will even try to get on your lap if you let him! He certainly loves to be on the giving and receiving end of kisses. Whopper is housetrained and has never had an accident. He enjoys chewing on a good bone but isn’t a chewer. He knows to sit and come (with some selective hearing) but needs to work on his other commands. He learns very quickly and with a treat has shown that he will work hard to learn something new. He isn’t a leash puller but could use a bit more refinement. He is crate trained and walks into it without a fuss for a quick nap or at bedtime. If you have an active home and are looking for a loving, energetic dog, Whopper may just be your guy!!!

    AUTUMN

Posted Breed: English Setter. Hi there! My name is Autumn - let me tell you a little about myself. I am a stunning liver and white girl and I weigh approximately 51 pounds. I lived in a kennel for 9 years and my main purpose there was to have babies. Finally, I turned 9 and my previous owner said I was to old and dumped me at a shelter. Whaaaat? That place was full of barking dogs in wire kennels. One day someone came and took me out of the Shelter. After a couple of days, I was loaded into a car and I was off on a new adventure. I slept through most of it, but every couple of hours I got a new driver and a new car. I slept some more overnight, and then I did it all over again the next day. Everyone in the cars put their hands on me and I liked it! It felt so good to have loving human hands touching my body. The drivers of the last car really loved me up. I finally made it to my foster home and at this home, I learned a LOT about human touch, and KISSES! This is where I figured out that my name is Autumn! I also discovered that kibble really IS food, and now I’m WILD for it! Then I had another new experience called a bath. Yuck! I never had one of those before. After the bath, everyone wanted to touch me and commented about how soft I felt. I also had to learn how to behave in a house. Apparently, I am not supposed to pee or poop in the house. I learned that rule in a little over a week and have been good about it ever since. So here is the thing: I’m looking for a forever home. I want a home that I don’t have to share with any other dogs. Now that I know about human touch and love and good food, I want it all for myself. I don’t want to share it with other dogs. When I was with my previous owner, I lived in a kennel by myself. When another dog did come to visit, I ended up having puppies!!! Do you see why I want to be by myself? I have been around cats – but they tell me that I love them a bit too much. For some reason my foster Mama says NO! LEAVE THE KITTY ALONE! <Sigh> One thing you should know: I have something called arthritis. It makes it hard for me to do steps, especially if they are steep steps. But I’ll tell you a secret – they don’t stop me from going after a kitty… I am ready for real forever home. Can I come live in YOUR home? Will you love me more than anything, forever? Please, no other dogs, I want it to be just US! UPDATED BIO FOR AUTUMN – June 2018 ********************** Hi from Autumn’s foster mom! I just wanted to updated Autumn’s bio, and let you know what a sweet girl she is. This girl loves, LOVES, L-O-V-E-S to be with her people. She wants to be in the same room as I am, even though she usually just wants to lie at my feet or be on the couch next to me. She is not super active, as you might expect of an older girl. She has learned that outside is the only place to go potty, and we are progressing nicely with walking (not pulling) on a leash. Autumn loves to chase and chew her Jolly Ball. I started her in a crate whenever I left the house, but now she is free to roam the house. She never gets in to trouble. This girl is a GOOD sleeper. You can tell by the loud snoring! Autumn had a rough start before coming in to rescue, and now that she realizes how nice attention, and pets and treats are she does not want to share them with other dogs in the house. She really needs to be an only dog. She is very birdy – really anything that flies can get her attention – birds, leaves, Frisbees. Autumn is 9 years old and weighs 51 pounds. Might she be the one you’ve been looking for?

    RAYMOND

Posted Breed: English Setter / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $325.00. My name is Raymond or “Ray Ray” for short. The vet said I am around 2 years old. I am not exactly sure what kind of dog I am but I sure am cute! I love playing with my foster brothers, going on walks, and my foster parents! It took me some time to get adjusted to my new life because I came from a neglectful and abusive home. I will admit I had trust issues at first but I'm told that now I'm a completely different dog! My foster family was patient with me and showed me how to be a real dog in a loving home! Now I am playful and energetic but also I know when it is time to settle down. I have an indoor crate that I sleep in when my foster parents are away but I am allowed to sleep outside of my crate at night. I sleep 8 hours at night and can hold my bladder just fine. My foster parents let me outside first thing when they wake up. I know to go to the bathroom outside and I have become a healthy eater! I love my dry food and treats. I will do just about anything for one of those! I like lounging around on the couch with you while you watch tv or read a book and on my bed while I look out the window. I still get a little nervous sometimes, especially if I am around people I do not know or am in a new place, but if you talk to me and reassure me everything is okay I will trust you. Cars also scare me when I go on walks but I do love to ride in them! I believe I would do best in a loving home with a brother or sister dog to play with and who can “show me the ropes.” I would prefer a backyard I can run around and play in that has a fence so I am protected from those scary cars. I am a good guard dog and I will let you know if someone is in the house who does not need to be there. I will do what I can to protect the people who love me. If you are patient with me and show me you love me, I will love you unconditionally! My foster family showed me how to love again and I hope you will continue to do the same if I am lucky enough to join your family! I have had all my vetting, heartworm prevention, microchip placed, and I am neutered. I am a great size at 44 pounds. Will you consider me?
