    COCO

    rescue
    Breed: Cairn Terrier-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Cairn Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). This little one is COCO, an adorable Terrier mix who is approximately 2 years old, and currently weighing 12-13 pounds. He has a rougher/wiry coat which will require regular brushing and periodic grooming. Coco is initially shy but when he feels safe with you Coco relaxes and becomes very loving. This little guy is a gentle, sweet boy who LOVES to play with other small dogs - larger dogs scare him some - and he has been fine with cats. Coco loves to run and play and entice the other dogs to play with him. Coco seems comfortable with being crated and will sit so his foster mom can pick him up, give him lots of kisses and hugs and then be put him in his crate. In only a couple weeks, Coco now will run and greet his foster mom when he sees her; before, he was only interested in the dogs. Coco is a snuggly boy who craves human attention and love; he put his head on his foster mom's neck so he can be snuggled with in her arms. Such a sweetheart! Coco will bark and stand on his back legs while his foster mom prepares his food; he is very food oriented and will try to eat the other dogs' food so he is given his own space for breakfast and dinner. Coco is a very smart dog who is also very responsive, coming immediately when called. He would do best in a home with another dog so he can play, and someone willing to take him for walks for exercise and energy release. Coco was wonderful with the children in his rescuer's home. This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, tested for diseases, dewormed, inoculated, neutered, and microchipped. ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available for online completion and submission through the website's home page - www.acaringplacehs.org OR by requesting a paper version by emailing acaringplace@comcast.net. A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue adopts throughout the Greater Chicagoland Area. Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier-Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). This speckle nosed cutie is BRIE, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix who is between 10 and 12 months old, and currently weighing 50 pounds. Brie is short and stocky and packs a punch! She was rescued out of Chicago Animal Care and Control and is looking for the ending to her 'happily ever after' story. Brie is more interested in people than dogs and wants to say hello to everyone - and by say hello, we mean jumping up and down hello! It doesn't seem like she's had much human attention or direction prior to her rescue; she just craves human affection, attention, and pets. Brie follows her foster Mom around throughout the house because she doesn’t want to be left alone. We suspect that within a few weeks in a consistent home, she will have more confidence and realize that she is not being abandoned again. Brie is working on house breaking; she knows to go outside but has an accident from time to time as she's learning to go potty outside on a regular schedule. She is also working on her separation anxiety. Like we said above, with a little consistency and trust, this will get better. Besides being great with people, Brie has shown no issues with the other dogs she's met. She is barely phased by them on walks, just wants to keep on going or meet their humans. Because of all her energy, she would make a great family dog (she would definitely be able to keep up) or with anyone who can make sure she gets enough playtime every day (long walks/runs, loves playing fetch, etc.). Brie would greatly benefit by going to obedience training with her new adopters. This sweetie has not lived with any cats. Will you finish Brie's fairytale and give her the happily ever after she deserves? This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, treated for pneumonia, provided annual inoculations, tested negative for heartworm disease, been spayed and microchipped. Breed: Chinese Shar-Pei-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shar Pei / Mixed (short coat). SIMBA is such a cutie pie; this adorable boy is a 16 month old Shar Pei mix who currently weighs 47 pounds. Simba has been great with all the dogs in his foster home, from large pit bulls down to a 6 pound Chihuahua, as well as cats. He really enjoys playing with the dogs and is respectful to them. Simba has done well around men and women, vetting staff, and older children. He seems to be a well adjusted dog in general despite previous neglect. Simba was confiscated from his owners after living on a 4 ft chain in a hot garage since he was a young puppy. Simba is learning what it's like to be a normal dog living in a home. He needs more work on housebreaking and on general house manners but he has come such a long way in a short distance. He is so happy to be with people and the other dogs, and is very affectionate now. He loves to sleep in the bed with his foster mom now and seeks cuddles. Simba definitely acts puppyish and will get the goofies at times. He LOVES to gently wrestle with the other dogs in his foster home, especially his favorite girl, Eden. The foster mom is working on crate training, and leash walking on a harness. She says he seems to be a bit overwhelmed by his freedom so he will need an adopter dedicated to working with him and helping him be the best house dog he can be, providing him structure and limitations as well as affection and love. This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, providing inoculations, tested for diseases, neutered, dewormed, and microchipped. ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available for electronic completion and submission through A Caring Place's website, www.acaringplacehs.org OR you can request a paper application by sending an email to acaringplace@comcast.net. Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Lou Lu is a very mild-mannered and loving “pocket” Pitty (Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix) who is likely between 3 and 4 years old and currently weighing 42 pounds. LouLu loves everyone she’s met and gets along with most other dogs. LouLu would probably be happiest as the only dog in the household because she enjoys one on one attention from her people. LouLu loves to gives lots of kisses to both humans and animals. She has been in a training/boarding facility and has play groups with many different dogs and does great. Her foster dad has found that she does really well going for runs while he rides his skateboard. LouLu knows basic commands and listens very well. We do not know how LouLu is with cats. This girl is such a sweet soul who sports an adorable under-bite, making her especially memorable. Please give this sweet girl a chance - she deserves an amazing family/person to call her own. This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, received annual inoculations, been tested for heartworm disease and tick borne disease (negative), as well as dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier-German Shepherd Dog Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). This gorgeous girl is Louisa, a 2-3 year old, 55 pound Shepard/Pit Bull mix sporting a gorgeous, shiny, sable colored coat - it's not gray and it's not brown but somewhere in between. She absolutely loves her humans' attention. Louisa's foster dad is a dog trainer so she has learned all basic commands and then some. Louisa walks wonderfully on a leash and heeds to the "leave it" command. Louisa has done well with other dogs in the home where she is fostered. Louisa is playful, e xtremely loving, and very active so she'll need daily walks/jogs and yard play time. Louisa is more "high strung" so she requires an experience dog owner who is a strong and structured leader. Lo uisa tends to be a more sensitive dog who needs her owner to take charge and provide guidance, consistency and routine. Typical of Louisa is cautious and sometimes uncomfortable in new situations and settings like the vet's office; therefore, Louisa requires an adopter who is a true leader to her so she doesn't have to make decisions herself. Louisa is approved for adult only households. She is up- to-date on all vaccinations, has been tested for heartworm disease (negative), dewormed, microchipped, and spayed. Breed: Chihuahua
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Introducing CHICO, a handsome, male Applehead Chihuahua between 3-5 years of age and currently weighing about 10 1/2 pounds; he very much needs to lose a few pounds and would benefit from some daily exercise. Chico's foster mom says he's a very sweet boy who is a big kisser/licker. He really enjoys snuggling right next to you when you're watching T.V. or playing with one of the other little dogs in the home - he actually does really well with other dogs of varying sizes. Chico's foster mom has not seen him play with any toys. This little guy's ideal adopter is a single person with no children in the home, or an adult only household that has another dog or two. Chico requires a home that doesn’t have a lot of activity or people coming in and out because it makes him uncomfortable and protective. Therefore, Chico requires an experienced adopter who can manage the "Napoleonic Complex" that some Chihuahuas and other miniature dogs exhibit. The good news is that Chico has been responsive and easily corrected by his foster mom. Chico really likes being out in the yard exploring the sights, smells, and sounds of the neighborhood, just taking his time out there. His foster mom says he’s a bit challenging to get back in the house so she shakes the treat bag to entice him back in when he's distracted or acting defiant. If he thinks he's in trouble, the little guy will immediately roll onto his back and show his belly. Chico is crated while his foster mom is at work; he holds his potty until taken outside once his foster mom is home. While in foster care, his foster mom has not seen Chico play with any toys. This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, providing annual inoculations, been tested for heartworm disease and tick borne disease (all negative), neutered, and microchipped. Breed: Bullmastiff-Husky Mix

    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Husky / Bullmastiff / Mixed (short coat). SO SWEET!!!! This beautiful girl is Scarlet, a 4 year old cross breed who weighs about 65 pounds. Scarlet’s mom was a purebred English Mastiff and her dad was a purebred white Siberian Husky. She is a super affectionate, cuddly, and friendly dog seeking owners who would dote on her. She craves one on one time with people, whether laying on the couch and hanging out, or spending time with you in the yard enjoying beautiful weather. Scarlet is living in a foster home with a couple other larger dogs and one small dog, plus an outgoing kitty - getting along with all of them. She is an insecure girl due to her previous life so she struggles being left alone by herself; because Scarlet is very sensitive and has gone through a lot of change these past few months we are seeking adopters who are home more throughout the day and who have another dog in the home. In addition, she needs a fenced yard for her safety. This unique and striking girl would benefit from someone who will spend some time teaching her further; she is very smart, especially treat motivated, and has learned house manners and commands quickly. Scarlet is very gentle and sensitive so a subtle voice and strategy is best for her. She has had visits with her fosters grand kids of ages 5 and 11 and has been very gentle and loving with their respectful behaviors towards her. Scarlet is considered housebroken and has only had a few accidents in fosters home when not let out after hours. She does fear loud yelling and needs some gentle leading in and out doorways at times but with a sweet voice and loving lead she will smile and follow you everywhere. Scarlet is crate trained and sleeps with foster at night. She cannot live with birds. This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided inoculations, dewormed, tested for heartworm and other parasitic diseases, plus spayed and microchipped. BONDED PAIR - SEEKING PAIR ADOPTION Introducing LULU, a loving, 5-6 year old, 13 pound Jack Russell Terrier mix AND Ralphie, a 4 year old, 12 pound Dachshund mix. This pair was surrendered to A Caring Place when their owners were moving. The dogs are bonded - seeking each other for security and companionship - so we are seeking their adoption together as a pair. Lulu is a very loving girl who has been good with respectful children, and has good house manners. Lulu is initially shy and reserved but once she feels safe with you she becomes playful and enjoys your attention. Lulu wants to sleep super close to her foster mom - sometimes laying on her tummy/chest. Lulu presents her toys to her foster mom and seeks out play with her. Lulu has been very good with the other dogs in the foster home. Lulu enjoys walks and playing with her toys but while her foster mom is at work, she's snoozing on the bed. Lulu is a good little watch dog who will bark when doorbell rings or if she senses someone is near the yard. Ralphie is a very loving and playful little guy who enjoys being with and playing with other dogs. He regularly bring his foster mom squeaky toys so she can play with him. Ralphie really likes to be held and will give lots of kisses. He is a great guard dog and will bark when someone is near. This little cutie enjoys playing in the yard but his great joy is playing in a kiddie pool when it's nice and warm outside. Ralphie (and Lulu) love to wrap up in their blankets for bed. Ralphie can become possessive of his person so he requires an experienced and knowledgeable adopter who will work to correct this behavior. Ralphie has been crate trained and is housebroken when kept on a schedule. Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier-Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). This very handsome boy is Max, a gorgeous Staffordshire Terrier or American Pit Bull Terrier who is between 1 and 2 years of age and currently weighing 66 pounds. This boy is a total snuggle bug whose favorite spot is laying in his foster mom's lap or laying next to her in bed. Max is good with the other dogs in his foster home in general, especially a similar sized female with whom he plays. Max seems to be pretty mellow for such a young dog. He enjoys chewing on elk antlers, Nylabones, and toys - he hasn't chewed on household items in his foster home except for a decorative pillow. Max really isn't interested in spending time outside alone; he was confiscated from an owner who kept him outside where he was living without shelter so he wants to be with his foster family and their dogs inside the house. Max is fully housebroken and is generally well mannered, surprisingly due to the lack of previous care and his young age. Max becomes somewhat anxious when left alone so we are seeking an adoptive home with another dog. Additionally, having someone home part of the day would be best for him. Max was previously abused/neglected so he'd do best with an experienced dog owner who is a leader for Max. Not recommended for a household with kitties - just a little too interested in them (he's never hurt any). This handsome dog would enjoy an adopter who will take him for daily walks, play with him in a fenced yard, and take him through obedience training. He's a gem!
