  • Papillon Dog For Adoption in Jacksonville, FL, USA

    Dixie Lee

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Papillon
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Papillon (medium coat). Please contact fandt@bellsouth.net for more information about this pet. If you wish to know more about this pet, please contact pappypals@gmail.com. If you wish to meet this dog, please submit an adoption application. Once we check your references, we will contact you to schedule a time to bring the dog to your home to meet your family. We don't take calls about our adoptable dogs. We are an all volunteer organization and do not have a shelter nor a receptionist to take calls and answer questions. All our dogs are fostered in loving homes by volunteers, most of whom work full time jobs then come home to take care of their families and the little rescued dogs who live as members of the family. We desperately need volunteers who are willing to foster little dogs in their homes while we search for approved adopters. We pay all the vet bills and provide supplies to our foster homes. For more information, email Linda, PapillonMom@gmail.com. Here are the facts about: Dixie Lee Breed: Papillon Age: 12 Gender: Spayed female Weight: 10 pounds Shedding: Light Medical Info: Spayed, examined by vet, up-to-date on rabies, combination and Bordetella vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Medical issues: Mostly deaf House Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Good with Children: No Good with Strangers: After a brief warm up, but is still a little nervous Good with Other Dogs: Another small dog would be great Good with Cats: No Requires Fenced Yard: Yes, as she enjoys walking and exploring outside. Stay-at-Home Adopter and/or Canine Companion: Requires a stay-at-home adopter or someone away from home just a few hours. A small, gentle companion dog would be good. Biter: No, but will growl warning when she is afraid or nervous about a new situation. Digger: No Excessive Barker: Has a very loud, strange sounding bark...possibly due to deafness. She will stop barking when you get her attention and make a hand signal so she understands. Chewer: No Jumper/Escape Artist: No Destructive/Aggressive: No Comments from the foster mom: Dixie Lee has had a rough few months. She had lived with one person for 12 years and when that person moved, was unable to take Dixie. Dixie was surrendered to a humane society shelter in Kentucky. Dixie was at the humane society shelter for six months before she was adopted. Her adopter had lost her Poodle to old age, so adopted Dixie Lee and moved to Jacksonville, FL. The new owner expected Dixie Lee to fall right in the same routine as the Poodle that died, but that didn't happen. Dixie Lee had little if any hearing and was not accustomed to walking on a leash. Dixie Lee's new mom was unable to cope with a deaf, frightened dog even after 4 weeks. As a result of health issues with a family member which might require her owner to leave town for a short time, Dixie Lee was advertised as a free dog on craigslist. Dixie Lee's foster mom saw the ad and contacted the owner who surrendered her to us (with the permission of the humane society in Kentucky). Dixie is a lost little soul who just wants someone to be with her. She is happy sitting with someone most all of the time. She is still adjusting to being mostly deaf and startles then growls. She has not bitten, but she does give a warning growl so we know to slow down and give Dixie Lee time to adjust to the situation. She does best with someone home most all of the time and while she doesn't play with the other dogs in her foster home, she does respond when they are doing things around the house. Another little laid back dog would be good for this girl. Dixie loves going outside when it is warm outside and exploring, and she does not potty on a leash so a fenced yard is a must. A home with few or no stairs would be best as Dixie Lee has a bit of arthritis. if you have enough love in your heart to share with this frightened little girl, please contact us. She is a sweet girl and surely deserves a great home for the last years of her life. If you have additional questions, email pappypals@gmail.com Visit our Facebook page to see more about our adoptable dogs https://www.facebook.com/pages/Papillon-Pals-Rescue-Inc/123308784374523 For a no obligation adoption application go to: http://papillonpalsrescue.com/AdoptionApplication.pdf. Download the application to your computer, add your information and then attach the completed copy to an email and send it to us. Please note that we do not ship our dogs. We are a very small organization and are located only in Northeast Florida. We only adopt to families located in the general area that includes Florida and Southern Georgia. We are an all volunteer organization and do not have a brick and mortar facility. Please do not call us about our adoptable dogs. If you email us, we will respond, answering your questions within 48 hours of your inquiry. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation. Our Adoption Process: We require an application be completed and submitted if you wish to adopt a dog from Papillon Pals. Once the application is received, our Adoption Committee reviews the application to make sure the applicant meets the requirements for adopting the dog (for example: requires a fenced yard, or a stay-at-home adopter, etc.). We then check personal and vet references. If all is well with the references, we contact the applicant to schedule a time to take the dog to their home and meet all of the family. All information is then submitted to our Adoption Committee for review/approval. This process may take up to two weeks to complete. We desperately need foster homes for newly rescued dogs. If you think you might be interested in fostering a small dog, contact Tami, PapillonPals@comcast.net for more information.

    Breed: Dachshund-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). Chance DARE ID #17-054 Chance is aprox 2 years old and has been with us for a little over 2 months and he has been a very good boy. He is full of energy and loves his games of fetch. Chance likes to be the center of the action, and has no qualms about demanding attention. He loves snuggling! Chance is an easy-going boy and has gotten along well with anyone he’s been in contact with. He has fit in well with our two other dogs, and has been sweet and gentle the few times he’s met our 3yo niece. He had a few minor accidents in the house the first week, but has been fine ever since. Chance has plenty of puppy energy, and usually gets up pretty early, but this generally goes along with our schedule. Hopefully he can adapt to yours quickly. We crated him at night for a few weeks, and he did well. Now he enjoys sleeping while snuggling up to his 4-legged roommates. In our household, one fur-parent works from home, so we don’t know how Chance will be if left alone during the day. We suspect he might not like to be left alone for too long. One warning... he'll steal your socks right along with your heart. Please scroll to bottom of page for additional info about me and my email contact. Posted Breed: Dachshund / Beagle / Mixed (short coat). Hello! Can we talk? My name is Gretchen. I have been with DARE since October, 2017. While I really like all of these nice folks, I would truly love to know that I can have a home where I can stay forever. At my vet check-up they said I am heartworm and parasite free. Yippee! I got my tooffies cleaned, but I lost a few that the doc said I did not want to keep in my mouth any longer. I don't know about all of that, but I am feeling great these days. My foster mommy says that I am sweet, loveable, and the perfect lap dog. I love all the kids, the other dogs, and even the cats. I weigh about 21 pounds and am 7 or 8 years old. I have a lot of years and love to give. I am currently being fostered north of Jacksonville, Fl. Please scroll to bottom of page for additional info about me and my email contact. If you know that I am your forever dog please fill out an online application at www.daretorescue.com and put my name on it. Wyatt

    rescue
    Breed: Dachshund
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Dachshund (short coat). Wyatt is a spunky little guy of 10+ years old. He is super sweet & loves everyone he meets. He gets along with other dogs, big or small. Wyatt also likes to harass the cats in his foster home, he isn't aggressive just wants to play but they don't realize that. Wyatt is tolerant of well behaved children; but with any dog, there should always be adult supervision present with young children & dogs. Wyatt does not have any food or toy aggression as long as he is treated properly. He loves to be around people & will follow you everywhere, so therefore would prefer someone who can be with him as much as possible. Wyatt is non-destructive but can be a little vocal at times when he wants your attention. This little fellow would do well with another fur brother or sister for companionship, but would also do well being spoiled as an only dog. Wyatt loves to lay out in the sun for a bit every day, so he would love a secure backyard or sunny spot to soak up some rays. This sweet mellow fellow also loves his naps like any good doxie does! Wyatt has not been cared for properly in his previous life so we are working on his house breaking skills since he has never been inside. We are also working on leash training and he is doing good with that! He is neutered, up-to-date on all his shots and is very healthy with the exception of having occasional seizures which we are happy to say are now controlled with medication (his meds are only approx. $25/mo). Wyatt recently had a dental & due to several years of not being properly cared for, lost a lot of his teeth, so he is eating canned food mixed in with dry food, which he is not picky about at all. Wyatt is being fostered in the Orlando area & would love a furever home with someone to give him lots of TLC. If you have room in your heart & home for this sweetheart please fill out an application for adoption at www.daretorescue.com. Posted Breed: Dachshund / Chihuahua (short coat). Juanita, the Chiweenie This sweet loving girl was dumped at a kill shelter because she was "too old". But this spunky little gal is full of life and tons of kisses. She loves children and everyone else she meets and gets along well with other dogs. Cats are an unknown. She is quiet in the house and walks well on a leash. She is 16 pounds and could stand to lose a little. She is about seven years old and in very good health with the exception of being treated for very mild heart worms. Juanita is blind in one eye, but it doesn't slow her down a bit. It appears to be a condition she has lived with all her life. She is microchipped, up-to-date on her shots and needs a loving family to call her own. Posted Breed: Dachshund (short coat). Dolly 11 years old / 12 pounds $150 adoption fee Hi, my name is Dolly. I am a 11 year old, 12 lb. red smooth girl. I think I’m a perfect size for a lap dog. I am scared of most men so I would really like to have a Mom be my new family. I get along very good with small dogs, love big nice dogs, and I’m good with cats. I would be good with older children who will treat me kindly and with respect. I am very mindful and come when called. I am working on my potty skills and my foster mom keeps a diaper on me, so I will need my new family to be patient and kind. I love to sleep in the big bed under the covers. My favorite treat is a rawhide chew. I am afraid of thunder and loud noises but I am sure I would be okay if my new family snuggles and comforts me. I am looking for my forever home. Are you my new forever family? I promise I will love you forever. Dolly is being fostered in the Jacksonville, Fl area. She is up-to-date on shots, spayed, and on heartworm and flea preventative. Please complete an application and the foster home will contact you! Please scroll to bottom of page for additional info about me and my email contact.
