American Bulldog Dog For Adoption in CHICAGO, IL, USA

    Larry

    verified verified

    rescue
    Breed: American Bulldog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Larry is just turning 4! He is an overall healthy, happy and well behaved boy. He loves to be with his human. He will want to sleep in the same room with you, watch TV with you etc. He is a good watchdog. He knows his basic commands. Walks nicely on a leash with a front clip harness and loves walks. In a controlled environment he is an angel, but does have anxiety/reactivity issues that if you are aware of are well managed and can be worked on with patience. It will take him time to warm up to a new owner he can even be slowly introduced to a new dog. Ideal home will be quiet in a non-busy area. Food allergies are well managed on a specific not terribly expensive vegan food. He has some arthritis and torn ligaments in his back legs, but is doing WELL and hardly needs Rimadyl if given glucosomine regularly/not permitted excessive stairs. Is a good candidate for PRP--which is an inexpensive alternative to surgery and is cell therapy. He is a great companion looking for a patient home.

    Breed: Chiweenie

Chaweenie ... 1 year old boy... He has the dachshund color and more chihuahua shape ... Mom is pure bred chihuahua... dad is pure bred dachshund ( weener dog)... He is up to date on all his shots with tags registered ... He is a cuddly mischievous ball of energy That will steal your heart from the moment see him... .. He learns very quickly and is completely trained to wait at the door when he needs to go out... He is active and playful and needs a family that has the time to really enjoy him... I rescued him and his siblings when he was still a puppy and found a good home for him. With all the animals that i rescue ... I let the new owners know that if something happens that makes it that they can not keep the animal they have adopted. .. That instead of giving them to the humane society they can return them to me and i will find them another home... Even if it is years later... So this happened with Tubby... After they had him for a year... He loved his family dearly but they are moving to a place where they can't keep him... He needs a new family... Come see him for yourself and you might wonder how you ever did without him

    Breed: Labrador Retriever

We need to rehome our 6 year old black lab male, named Brody. He started showing signs of aggression towards food at 6 months old. Also is very territorial of his pillow and bones. We enrolled him in puppy preschool and my husband worked with him for years, but it has never got better. He growled at my son through a gate recently, so HOME WITHOUT KIDS IS IDEAL. He doesn't like other dogs, has never bit one or fought, just growls and barks. He loves to play in the little kid pools and will play fetch until he can't run anymore haha. Is a sweet dog, but the aggression is too scary now that we have kids. Have tried to contact a trainer in the past but never heard back. Again ideally a home without kids and with someone willing to work with him. We feed him outside away from everyone now. Good dog other than aggressive behavior towards food and pillow/bed.

    Millie

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
From her adorable smiling face to her intensely devoted personality, Millie is a dog that easily leaves paw prints on your heart. She is just 2 years old, very healthy, spayed and up to date on her shots. She will be microchipped as well. Millie is a very pretty mix of German Shepherd and hound. She is a medium sized dog at 35 pounds. Having been house trained, crate trained, obedience and leash trained, Millie is the perfect companion… almost! Millie’s foster mom works at a veterinary clinic, and adopted Millie with the intention of finding her forever home after making sure she was healthy, spayed and fully vaccinated. As much as her owner loves Millie, this sweet dog needs a home with owners who can spend most of their time with her. Millie has separation anxiety – she does not do well being left alone. This is something that can improve over time with a patient owner who can teach her that “when I go away – I come back” by using gradual exposure training. Millie is not good with cats, but is very accepting of dogs. She is a good match for respectful, older children, and is great with adults. Millie is looking for her forever home with a person, couple or family that will cherish her and keep her safe, happy and healthy. She needs a home with a securely fenced yard, and owners who do not have to leave her home alone, due to her separation anxiety. Millie will be rehomed with vet records and any supplies her owner has on hand for her. Millie needs to be in a home with people who stay at home for work, home-school or are retired. She is good when she has her owners with her, but if left alone can be destructive. This is due to separation anxiety. She can be trained out of this with gradual exposure training with owners who are willing and able to put in the work. She is a wonderful dog, and in the right home she will shine. Currently she goes to dog daycare when nobody is home.

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 200.00. Hello world! My name is Clover, and I'm a beautiful charcoal gray girl with the most captivating gold eyes. I was rescued with my four adorable puppies; they have all been adopted, and now it’s my turn to find a forever home! I am enjoying my new life as an empty nester. I love being outside: sunbathing, going for walks or chewing on a nice bone in the grass. I have so much time to socialize now too! I love playing with my foster siblings and am very polite when meeting new dog or cat friends. After all of my activities, I like to take a leisurely nap on the couch with my foster people. I am very affectionate and love to snuggle up and get my ears and neck petted. My foster mom says my fur is sooo soft! And now that I’ve gotten my body back, I think I look pretty good too! It’s probably time for some patio dates for me! I go into my crate with treats and will eat my food and sleep there if you prefer. But I am proving to be quite responsible when left out to roam and would prefer to sleep on a comfy dog bed or next to your bed on the floor. Overall, what I'm really looking for is love! I promise I will reward you with lots of snuggles, kisses, and a happy wag of the tail! Sound like a deal you can’t refuse? Then apply to adopt me, Clover, today! Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 200.00. Hi world! My name is Titus, and I'm a gentle giant who loves cuddling with you! Unfortunately I've been on "crate-rest" for a little while, so I haven't had a chance to really know whether I like other cats or dogs - only time will tell! I really do love my crate, and I haven't had any accidents at all. My foster mom says I do really well on a leash - I don't pull at all, and I look to you to lead! I love sniffing everything I can (both inside and outside) - there's so much to smell and explore, so let's take our time on those walks! But my favorite thing of all time (besides treats, of course), is to be pet and loved on by you! Sometimes I'll even rest my head on your lap - just in case you aren't petting me already! As you can see from my photos, I'm just a giant love bug. I can't wait to show you how much I love you! Apply to adopt me, Titus, today! Titus is available for pre-adoption only at this time, as he is heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is a non-contagious and treatable condition in dogs, but is fatal if left untreated. Breed: Boxador

Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Boxer / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 200.00. Wylie here! I'm just a big ol' goofy Lab mix looking for my forever home! I had a pretty rough start in life - in fact, my foster mom tried to catch me for 3 weeks right off of a busy road! I was alone and afraid, and didn't realize that she wanted to help me - but boy am I glad she kept at it, because I'm LOVING life right now! It doesn't take much to keep me happy. In fact, my favorite toy is a sock (no need to spend money on all those "fancy" toys!), and I love playing with my human and canine family. Sometimes I'm so happy to be loved that I get a little too excited - I can forget how big I am sometimes! But I'm working on learning my manners now that I’m a house pet, and knowing when it's time to play and when it's time to rest. I'm not a big fan of my crate (in fact, my foster mom says I'm a bit of an escape artist), but I learned really quickly how to use a doggy door! So who needs that silly crate anyway? I love to be petted and to lie next to my family, but I'm also just as happy to chill out on my own. And when it's time to play, I make sure to take advantage of it! My Lab energy comes out at times, but all that my foster mom has to do is quietly pet me and gently tell me it's time to rest, and I'll calm right down. What can I say, it’s in my genes! One of her favorite things about me is my cute underbite! She's also so proud of me that I'm learning to walk well on a leash. And I love car rides! My ideal home would be one with another dog; maybe and older dog to teach me how to be the best doggy I can be! I also think I'd really like hiking, doggy day care, and dog parks where I can meet and hang out with new friends. So if you're looking for a sweet, adorable, and smart goofball, what are you waiting for? Apply to adopt me, Wylie, today! Breed: Chihuahua
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Jack Russell Terrier.     ↵     NAME: Ben Cohen AGE/GENDER: 1 year 3 weeks 4 days/Male BREED: Chihuahua WEIGHT: 8.0 lbs TEMPERAMENT: Ben is shy at first, but once he warms up he is cuddly and curious. HOUSE TRAINING: We are still working on it! Ben will try to tell you when he needs to go out but needs some work on holding it for more than a few hours. He is still learning :0) CRATE TRAINING:  He still needs a little work in this area as crate training is new to him, but he's getting better! OTHER DOGS: Once he’s used to other dogs, he is sweet! Otherwise, he can be a little nervous. He might hide or be noisy, but he is not aggressive. He is fostered with 2 other dogs currently and is doing great. He loves his chiweenie foster brother and loves to play. CATS: Although not with cats currently, he has lived with cats in the past and was said to be fine.  CHILDREN: Ben LOVES kids. He would be so happy in a home with kiddos to cuddle.  He was previously in a home with toddlers and very patient with them. ADOPTION DONATION: $400.00 HEALTH: Ben Cohen is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as other incidental costs of care. In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with a free 30 day trial of free pet insurance provided by 24PetWatch.   HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find Ben Cohen a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do!   NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: Ben is a sweet little munchkin! His favorite things are snuggling under blankets, so if you want a dog to cuddle at night or with young ones during nap time - he is your guy. He is very well mannered for the most part, he just needs some training in regards to where he should and shouldn’t go to the bathroom. He is great with all kids and other dogs once he gets to know them. He is a shy little boy but learning to trust. He needs more socialization and to explore the big wide world with someone who can give him the patience to watch him grow. Exposure to new things and new people is the key. That being said, he is not mean or aggressive in the slightest, and once he knows that a dog is friendly he is a happy camper. In less than 24 hours, Ben and our dog were running around the house and playing, although Ben would always let our dog win.    All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and Martingale collar (or a harness, if necessary), depending on each dog's particular needs. We also send home additional flea treatment and deworming medication for your future use.   ABOUT MOTLEY ZOO: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is a volunteer run, foster based, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Redmond, WA. Motley Zoo does not have a traditional shelter location, but instead, utilizes private foster homes which care for the animals individually, in a home environment, until a "furever" home is found.   Motley Zoo also runs "Rock Star Treatment" Dog Daycare & Training Studio in Redmond, WA which is a day-use facility and does not hold kennels of adoptable animals. The dogs there are owned animals who come to the facility while their families are at work and school so they can play and socialize in a safe environment. We dub this service our "Year-round" fundraising program which helps us support our rescue animals and the $15,000/ month vet bills we incur. This Studio location does have an Adoptable Cat Lounge, where cats may live until adoption, which is the exception to any aforementioned rules.   Please email adopt@motleyzoo.org and request an adoption application so we can get you started on the journey to finding a new, furry friend! Once you have been approved to adopt, then we can set up a meeting with the animal you have been matched with.   For more information, please visit www.motleyzoo.org.   Thank you for considering adopting a dog in need!   Woof,   The Motley Zoo Crew

She wants to say hi and be near but not necessarily play CATS: unknown - I’m sure she would do great with a cat. She doesn’t chase or initiate play CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older -- she loves people in general. She is small and does get under foot ADOPTION DONATION:  $375 HEALTH: Emily Warren is spayed, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as other incidental costs of care. In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with a free 30 day trial of free pet insurance provided by 24PetWatch.   HISTORY: EMILY was rescued by firefighters from a burning hoarding home. Sadly She is only 1 of 4 survivors where over 18 others perished. Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find Emily a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do!   NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: Emily is a unique little lady, while she prefers to spend her time cuddled under a blanket next to you (or on your lap), she also doesn’t want to miss any of the action. She will follow you from room to room, rub on all the things and invade any personal space (dog or human) for some pets. She loves her yoga poses with downward dog being her favorite (not kidding, she does it all the time) as well as a good walk, though she will follow your feet instead of leading the way. Emily loves people and will put the breaks on to say hi, or jump all around to get your attention. She has some separation anxiety and is the most comfortable with another dog around. While she doesn’t love her crate, she will sleep in there during the day and at night. She does much better being in the same room (in the crate) as her foster’s dogs and humans. She’s a spunky 9 year old who really just wants a K9 friend, a lap to lay on and blankets to cuddle under.    All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and Martingale collar (or a harness, if necessary), depending on each dog's particular needs. Posted Breed: Affenpinscher / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 200.00. Hi everyone! My name is Atari, and just like the video games, I'm a ton of fun to play with! I'm a scruffy little fluff-ball with the cutest under-bite, and I love chasing balls and playing with toys! I also really like taking walks, but sometimes I decide I want my foster mom to carry me instead (that's way more fun, right?) As for who I like? Pretty much everyone! I love playing (gently) with other dogs - I even like to groom them! And I like cats! Kids? Ohmigod kids are THE BEST! I get so excited when I see them and would love to have a kid around to play with in my new home! When it's time for me to relax (and I do love to relax), my favorite thing is to cuddle with my people. I'm also perfecting my potty training skills, and working on learning some more commands - I'll be a little gentleman in no time! So what are you waiting for? Apply to adopt me today! Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Meet Orchid! This cutie is a young golden and white shepherd mix. Initially shy around new people, after a few minutes this girl is all wiggles - especially if you have treats! After only a short time in her foster home Orchid is already happy to trot into her crate, and is learning about how nice it is to relax and sleep in there. Orchid is a playful girl who greets other dogs nicely. She adores running and playing chase with her foster sister, another medium sized dog about her same size. Orchid would love to find a home with another dog buddy to help show her the ropes. Walks are a work in progress. While she doesn't pull on the leash very much at all, Orchid has a tendency to stick close to her handler - sometimes too close! This treat-motivated girl is happy to sit or dance for a treat. Her foster mom thinks teaching her "down" and "stay" will be snap. Orchid is still a growing young dog who is going to need proper training, exercise, mental stimulation, and your love and attention to be her best self and wonderful addition to your family! If you are interested in meeting Orchid, your first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website. This information is as up to date and accurate as possible for the dog in their current environment. All dogs and puppies will need time and training to adjust to their new surroundings and learn the rules of their new home. Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 200.00. Say hello to the Buttercup! This cutie is a Lab mix puppy, who was rescued from the local shelter. She’s settled into her foster home while she awaits her furever home, and is on smart girl! She has already picked up on a few commands, has learned how to play with other dogs, and is crate-trained. While this girl has all the cute looks and charm of a puppy, she is described as medium-level playfulness. She loves chew toys and stuffed doggy toys, and will even take them into her crate. Get ready to laugh when you see her puppy ears cue in on every sound – they act like radars that constantly move! They add so much personality to Buttercup’s sweet facial expressions. Buttercup will be perfectly suited for a home or apartment as long as her owner is willing to shower her with attention, physical activity, and lots and lots of love! She gets along well with other pets, and adores meeting new people. She is ready to expand her doggy horizons and have new adventures, sniff new scents, meet other wet doggy noses, and find her "happily-forever-after" home!
