Posted Breed: Pointer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Please contact Lauren Masters (laurenm@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet. DAHLIA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Dahlia Best Guess for Breed: lab/pointer mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of 3/6/18 SEX: female Approximate Weight: 45 pounds as of 3/6/18 Has Lived With: other dogs Currently Living at: A scary shelter in SC! She will need a foster, or better yet, forever home when she arrives to DC! Meet Dahlia! This sweet girl is a 2 year old pointer/lab mix, weighing in at approximately 45 pounds. Dahlia has a beautiful coat with pointer freckles and an adorable face!! You just want to hug her immediately upon seeing her! Dahlia ended up in the shelter through no fault of her own and is looking for a forever family to give her the love and attention she deserves! Could it be yours? Dahlia is out of her crazy young puppy years, but she will need both mental and physical stimulation on a daily basis to keep her happy and healthy. She would love to go on long walks, hikes, and take trips to the dog park so she can socialize with her canine friends. And of course, upon returning home, she'd love to shower her new forever family with tons of kisses and cuddles! Dahlia just wants to be part of your life! Dahlia gets along great with other dogs so she'd be a great addition to an existing pack, or would be happy soaking up all of the love and attention for herself! We haven't had a chance to see her interact with cats or kids yet. If you have them, let us know, and we'll do our best to find out! Dahlia is also looking forward to attending obedience school to work on her doggie manners and impress her new family. Dahlia will make a GREAT companion and family member; you won’t regret opening your heart and home to this sweet girl! Like most shelter dogs, Dahlia may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained. Dahlia has tested positive and been treated for for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Lauren at laurenm@luckydoganimalrescue.org! Breed: Lab-Pointer
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pointer / Mixed. Name: Bella Suspected Breed: Lab/Pointer Mix Approximate Age: 1 year old Approximate Weight: 61 lbs Observations with Dogs: She is reactive towards other dogs, but has lived with them before. She is in training. Observations with Cats: she should not live in a home with cats Observations with Kids: We do not recommend that she be placed in a home with small children Currently Living at: DC area Foster home Bella is affectionate, loyal, and loving with her family. She is shy with new people, but will become your fast friend if you approach her gently and offer her a treat. She is an oversized lap dog inside the home, and loves being close to her humans. Bella will need an experienced adopter who is committed to giving her lots of exercise, as well as ongoing positive reinforcement training because Bella is reactive towards other dogs and she is very strong. She is currently working with a trainer, but this requires consistency and a long term investment in addressing her fears and reactivity. Her foster reports that she is crate trained and has not had any accidents in the home. She is eager to please and very loving, and deserves a shot. We don't know her history, but clearly she wants to be a part of a loving family. Like most shelter dogs, Bella may need a refresher on house training and crate training. We ask all of DC PAWS’ fosters to work on both house and crate training with their foster dog. The adoption fee for this dog is $350. If you are interested in adopting Bella, please submit an adoption application at http://dcpawsrescue.org/adoption-info/.DC PAWS Rescue does our best to provide accurate and complete information about our adoptable animals. Please note that we cannot make any guarantees about age or breed; we rely upon our rescue partners and their veterinarians to make those assessments. We also cannot make any guarantees about housebreaking and animal temperament, as animals can behave differently through transition and in different environments. Our shelter partners provide a basic vet screening for each animal we rescue, which includes necessary vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, and spay/neuter (unless the animal is too young or otherwise deemed by the vet to not be a good candidate for surgery). Please note that this is not a comprehensive medical exam and as such, may not identify any and all medical issues, though our goal is to flag any obvious health issues through the basic vet screening. We share all medical records with adopters and flag any known issues prior to adoption finalization. About DC PAWS Rescue Our rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based dog and cat rescue in the DC area. We rescue from rural areas in the south, as well as local DC area shelters, such as Prince Georges County, MD and Wicomico County, MD. Posted Breed: Pointer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Hi, My name is Charles and I have been at the shelter since August 2017.....they say I'm around 5 years old. I wanted to tell you about my special day I had away from the shelter because it was a very special day for me. A s we left the shelter I was so excited. I did very well getting into the car and I don't mind the car ride. I enjoyed looking out the window and catching some fresh air in my face. On the way to our hiking trip I was given several treats which I take very gently. I was so excited once we arrived at the park. I got out of the car and started to explore the area. I was so excited I saw ducks and birds, but I really didn't care about them. I was enjoying the cool fresh smell in the air. I was sniffing and looking around all over the place. So many new smells. I didn't seem to care about the little or big dogs that would come my way, I would stop and look at them and continue with walking, and stayed very calm. I enjoyed climbing on the rocks and hills. I LOVE attention from people, I would stop and wag my tail when someone would walk past us, and if you came up to pet me I would roll over on my back to make sure I got belly rubs. We hiked 3.5 miles, I kept a great pace and enjoyed myself. We came along another pond area where there were more ducks, I went right up to them and I just ignored them, they were not very interesting. Did I tell you how much I love being around people, and I love the attention. As we left the park we went to a Pet friendly restaurant, where I got to sit down on the patio and enjoy the sunshine. My day foster gave me lots of french fries and some of her sandwich, it was really good. I took the food very gently. After that we went to Petco where I got to walk around the whole store, I wasnt' interested in looking at the fish or mice, I was only interested in smellling the dog food and picking out my bone. I was very friendly with people that came up to me. Once we left Petco my day foster took me to McDonalds and got me 3 cheeseburgers, boy they were so yummy! Overall, I'm a very happy boy who will love to be in a home where I can show you how much I love you and the family. I would do well with a family that will take me for walks, give me belly rubs. I love to give kisses. Can you tell I have so much love and personality for anyone. I know sit, and I'm a very good walker, my day foster said I was a mellow boy on our day together. I'm just a big lover. Plese come see me at the shelter. I really want to find my forever home and shower you with love and kisses. Much love, Charles If you have pets at home please them to meet me,and your family. Dog intro are always recommended. When you come to the shelter bring my ID # which is A3938245 or you can send an email *Please Note: This animal is courtesy posted for Maricopa County Animal Care & Control and is at the EAST VALLEY facility (2630 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Mesa). Different adoption fees/policy apply. Please visit MCACC's website http://www.maricopa.gov/pets/locations.aspx for hours and detailed location information. You may wish to call 602-506-7387 (PETS) and provide the animal's A# above to verify that it is still available and/or has not been moved to a different adoption center for more visibility to potential adopters.

And we receive new "adoptees" every day, so add our website to your "favorites" list and visit us often. http://www.talgov.com/animals I am currently undergoing 12 weeks of obedience training and heartworm rehabilitation through the HART program at Wakulla Correctional Institution. I will be crate trained, obedience trained and heartworm free in July of 2018! My former foster mom said that `She’s sweet, smart, loves attention, she’s happy on car rides, is thrilled to be in a home!` Honey LOVED the children in the home, and wants to play with the other resident animals. If you are interested in adopting me when I return, please email our Foster Coordinator at fosterpets@talgov.com for more information. Harley

    rescue
    Breed: Lab-Pointer
    Sex: Male Male
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pointer / Mixed. My name is Harley and I’m a pointer mix. I was adopted as a very young pup to be the little brother for my family’s older dog. But, I guess they forgot how much work having a new puppy would be. They got frustrated with me a lot because I didn’t know as much as my big brother. I tried my best to listen and be loyal but they didn’t have time to teach me. They never took me out to meet new people so I learned from an early age that I can’t trust just anyone. One day, they toom me to a trainer who wasn't nice to me, and they said I came back a "bad boy", so they loaded me up in the car and dropped me off at JBAR, where I came from. For the past few months, I’ve been living with my foster mom. Even though I love my new dog AND cat siblings, it took me a little while to warm up to my foster mom because she was a stranger. Finally, I realized that I can trust her. I’m 100% housebroken and a big people-pleaser. When it is time to go to sleep, I head right to my crate and you don’t even have to close the door. My foster mom knows that I’m a good boy because I alert her by barking whenever a stranger comes around. I want to keep us safe! She and my doctor are helping me not worry so much about strangers and they put me on a great medicine called Prozac. Prozac helps to reduce my stress and anxiety about meeting new people. She also has her visitors give me treats when they come over so that I associate new people with good things! I’m starting to learn that new people can be friends but it still takes time for me to trust. Loud and sudden noises make me think that someone’s going to hurt me or my family so I bark to alert them. And those little people, called children, really feel like strangers to me and scare me. I can’t live with children. Even though I am not aggressive, I would be best suited with an experienced dog owner who can patiently give me time to learn to trust and who can continue my education. Once I get to know you, I am so loving and loyal and I’m just like any other puppy. I love to play, chew my marrow bones, and make you laugh. But when I get anxious, I need to be redirected so that I stop barking. I’m still a baby and I'm eager to learn. Can you be my best friend and teacher?

Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pointer / Mixed (short coat). I love other dogs & all people! I will be available for adoption on April 14th. I cannot have any visitors before April 14th. You will need to fill out an online application and receive a phone call back from a staff member that everything is ok with the application prior to April 14th. All family members and any dogs from the household need to be present at the time of the adoption. Adoption donation: $450 We open at 9 am Saturday mornings and we will be helping adoptions in the order of when they submitted an approved application to us. There will be a sign in sheet on the front door at 8:30 am so that we can pull applications for the people that arrive between 8:30-9am. Again, the order in which adoptions will come in to the shelter to see any adoptable dogs or cats first thing on Saturday mornings will be as to when the application was submitted to Animal House Shelter so there is no need to come to the shelter any earlier than 8:30 to sign in. This will be the procedure for people that arrive between 8:30-9am. After 9am, on Saturday mornings it will be first come, first serve after we help all of the adoptions that signed in between 8:30-9am. Most people submit general applications to us which do not specify a name or a particular litter they are interested in so there is no way for us to know until people arrive Saturday morning at 8:30 how many people are interested in a particular litter, puppy, kitten, cat or adult dog. We always have around 300 dogs & cats available for adoption and the adoption counselors will help you to find the right companion for your family! We look forward to meeting you! All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested and started on Tri Heart Plus & Vectra 3D http://www.animalhouseshelter.com Our website ( www.animalhouseshelter.com ) is kept 100% up-to-date with who is currently available. New animals (40/week) are added to the site 2 weeks before their availability date to give you time to fill out your adoption application and get the family ready to come out to the shelter that day. So keep any eye on the site for any animals being added as available for adoption as new animals are added everyday! We would recommend if you haven’t done so already that you submit a general online adoption application with us so it is on file for when you are ready to come out and adopt. The adoption counselors will be able to show you many animals that would be a good fit for your family. We do grant adoptions in order of when you submitted your application with us. So it is always best that you get your general application for any animal in with us as soon as possible.
