Barrow Retrievers has been working with Labradors since 2012. We are committed to producing AKC registered; field quality, and OFA/DNA tested Labradors. We produce only the acceptable bred standard colors, Black, Yellow and Chocolate. None of our dogs have dilute genes (i.e., "silver"). Our labs are family and live in our homes, trained daily by us when weather permits, and are AKC titled in FT/HT. Most of our dogs have National Field Champion Sires and our Dams are bred to titled proven field Labradors. We breed for performance, sound health and temperament. We limit our breedings to no more than 3-4 per year. Pups are whelped and raised in our home. Wellness checks are performed on all dogs bred before, during and after whelping. Pups are provided with quality care by our local vet as well as our reproduction specialist vet. Pups get a wellness check within 2-3 days after whelp, and again at 6 weeks. Pups come with a contract providing our written health guarantee. Dams are tested for worms and parasites and given maintenance treatments 2 times per year. Then monitored and treated again before breeding, during pregnancy and once during lactations as needed. Pups receive age appropriate de-worming and vaccinations, dewclaws removed, early neurological stimulation for 10 days, socialization with adults, children and our other dogs. Pups will not leave our property other than car rides and trips to the vet. However, we have several acres with 3 ponds where pups will experience nature walks, be exposed to birds and gunfire and taught to chase/retrieve. Pups come with a 26-month hip and eye guarantee. Prospective new families are encouraged to call us and discuss our dogs, puppies and guarantees. Our preference is for our dogs to go to competition and or hunting homes.
