If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Location: USA
Tito is a charismatic Boxer-Lab retriever mix dog to adopt in Kirkland Washinton. His white coat and dark eyes are distinctive, with just enough pink so that he doesn't completely vanish in the fog or snow. He is a great companion and big brother for kids, but he has some agression issues around other dogs. Saddly the owners have a toddler and another dog, and they worry that the two dogs could get carried away and scare the child. "Tito" really needs to be an only pet, with his own people and no worries about other dogs or animals challenging his spot. He'd be perfect for a family with older kids, or an "empty nest" home with no other pets and lots of time to share with Tito. He truly is a kind-hearted dog when it comes to kids and strangers, but down deep, he just can't relax around other dogs. Are you the one to offer Tito the perfect home? Can you just imagine those funny pointy ears coming over to get some scratches and rubs? He'd be a wonderful addition to a lot of homes where the owners want just one really good devoted dog. His only health issue is a little bit of itchiness. We stick to Natures Recipe Grain Free food–we have found that eliminating grain from his diet helps that. We've tried many varieties of grain free food and he likes them all. More than anything, his owner wants to ensure that this special dog is put into a loving home with people who can remove the stress of living with other dogs. There is a $100 adoption/rehoming fee. Some supplies and veterinary records will be included. Questions about Tito?? Text “Tito” to (888) 833-2128 or email Adopt Titopet-lover.us

Eve and Finnley are a bonded pair, young dogs are looking for a new home together, with dog lovers who will love them unconditionally and; commit to giving them the best forever home ever – with lots of attention, love, playtime, exercise & care. Either of these dogs would make a great pet, but because young Finnley has always had Eve around, the owner really wants to see them go to the same home as a pair. Eve is a 2 year old female Boxer x Labrador Retriever mix dog for adoption to a very loving home in or near Dallas Texas. Eve is 2 years old ; weighs 40 pounds. She is in excellent health, spayed, up to date on vaccinations; micro-chipped. She is house trained ; well behaved though a bit territorial around other dogs. Ideally she is happy with Finnley as her only house-mate. Finnley is a glorious male purebred Golden Retriever puppy for private adoption in Dallas TX. 9 months old and in excellent health. He is neutered, up to date on shots; house trained. He is well behaved and very sweet and affectionate. Together, he brings out the best in Eve and acts as his role-model. Their owner is devastated to have to rehome these wonderful dogs. Unfortunately, she is having to move, and is unable to find accommodations that will allow her to keep the dogs. Her job is requiring that she work longer and longer hours, leaving little time to spend with Eve & Finnley. She is dearly hoping to find a home for the dogs where they can stay together where they will be cherished and kept safe, happy and healthy for the rest of their lives. If you have room in your heart and home for these two beautiful and healthy young dogs, please offer Eve and Finnley a loving home today. They can’t wait to meet you. There is a $300 adoption/rehoming fee to adopt both dogs as a bonded pair. Supplies and veterinary records will be included. Questions about Eve and Finnley? Falcor needs a very loving home where he can be the only pet. He needs to be in an adults only home with a solid routine. pet-net/american-eskimo-mix-adoption-portland-oregon/ Falcor is being placed for adoption by owner for the following reason: Falcor needs more individualized attention than we can give him with two other dogs. We tried for three years in hopes that it might work out. However, we are now planning to start a family of our own and can no longer devote the same amount of time and attention to Falcor. He has come a long way since we got him, and has become a more well-behaved and happy dog…but he does not have the proper temperament to live around infants or toddlers.
