  • Mutt Dog For Adoption in Englewood, CO, USA

    Kenny

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Kenny is a sassy, high energy pup that's full of life and love. He was found as a stray pup in a pack of 6 dogs wondering the streets of Houston. He was in poor health and covered with manage, but is now ready for his forever home! We are guessing that he is Shepherd mix and is about 5 months old. Kenny is a high energy, inquisitive, and smart pup! He is happy doing anything, as long as he's doing something! He will not do well sitting idle at home for long periods and would much rather be by your side exploring the world. He loves all people and dogs. He is still a puppy and so still needs to learn more of his basic obedience, but is smart and eager to please so it should be a breeze. He is working on kennel training and potty training, but needs continued work. Kenny would love to go to a forever home that is very active and allows him to participate in those activities. He will need a house, preferably with a tall fenced yard, but no apartments. He should do fine in a home with or without other dogs, as long as he gets lots of play dates and social time. He will do best in a home with older children, as he is fairly energetic and might be too rough for little kids. If you are interested in adopting Kenny, please submit an adoption application located on our website, coloradocaninerescue. We are asking for a $300 adoption donation. Kenny is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. The fine print: CCR cannot hold dogs, arrange meet and greets or adopt out any dogs without a completed adoption application. CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. Dogs listed as potty trained may experience an adjustment period as they learn the routines in their new home.

    Breed: Mutt

Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Keifer is a quiet, loving boy. He was found as a stray pup in a pack of 6 dogs wondering the streets of Houston. He was in poor health and covered with manage, but is now ready for his forever home! We are guessing that he is Shepherd mix and is about 5 months old. Keifer is a sweet, quiet pup. He loves all people and dogs. He is a bit shy when he meets new people but warms up quickly. He loves to cuddle with his people and play with his doggie friends. He is learning kennel training and potty training but will need continued work. He will likely be a medium energy dog and will do well in a home or apartment situation as long as he gets enough exercise and socialization. He will likely overcome his shyness quicker if he lives in a home with another well balanced doggie friend and that would be our preference. Because of his initial shyness, he will do best in a home with older children. If you are interested in adopting Keifer, please submit an adoption application located on our website, coloradocaninerescue. We are asking for a $300 adoption donation. Keifer is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. The fine print: CCR cannot hold dogs, arrange meet and greets or adopt out any dogs without a completed adoption application. • Boxer-German Wirehaired Pointer Mix Dog For Adoption in Englewood, CO, USA

    Truman

    rescue
    Breed: Boxer-German Wirehaired Pointer Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer / German Wirehaired Pointer / Mixed (medium coat). My name is Truman. I am available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. I came to CCR from a owner relinquishment in Denver. CCR believes that I might be a Boxer/German Wirehair breed mix (just a guess by shelter and vet personnel) and I am approximately 6 years old. My foster parents tell me I have a kooky personality, maybe it has something to do with my mohawk and big underbite. I am a sweet boy with people, although I have not been around a lot of kids. I do well with dogs that are smaller than me. I need managed introductions with dogs that are my size, as I do not like confrontation or hyper/anxious energy. Once I am comfortable with them, I love to play and run around the yard and play with them in the house. I will need continued socialization training if I ever want to be off leash at a dog park. I do well with cats, I don't even notice they're around until there rubbing against me. I am crate trained and walk well on a leash. I am also trained to use the dog door in my foster's house and will need to go to a home with a yard. I love to go for car rides and hang out with my people. I like to go into the hardware stores because the workers give me treats! I do like to chase the squirrels on the fence (but I think that they are there for my enjoyment because they tease me). In the house I love to stare out the door or windows at the wildlife (squirrels, birds, bunnies, deer), but I don't like those pesky raccoons, don't worry I will keep the yard safe from them. I have been known to be a barker and know what a bark collar is. I sleep on a big comfy dog bed next to yours at night and will only get on the bed if you tell me it is ok. I take treats extra gentle and love fruits and vegetables. I love to chew on dog bones, and play with some toys. I like to go for walks and hikes, I like to play in the water and have been fishing in the mountains. I have been on a boat and love to have the wind just blow through my hair. Truman will do best with an experienced dog owner/handler. If you are interested in adopting Truman, please submit an adoption application located on our website, coloradocaninerescue. We are asking for a $200 adoption donation. He is neutered, housebroken, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. In addition, most dogs listed as potty trained will experience an adjustment period as they learn the routines in their new home.

    Kirie

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). My name is Kirie. I am available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. I came to CCR from Canon City Colorado. There is very little history on me. CCR has been told I am a pit bull breed mix, but that is just a guess made by shelter staff, rescue volunteers, and our veterinarians. It is said when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Well Kirie has had quite a few lemons handed to her in her 4 year life span, but definitely making the best lemonade that she can. Kirie was adopted out from CCR as a young dog but two years later wound up in the Aurora Shelter, having been abandoned. They called us so we could take her back into our rescue. Kirie has had TPLO surgery since being returned to us, going through training with a behaviorist, and a foster has worked diligently to get her past her pulling on the leash, and help her master her needs to attack water spouts and sprinkler heads. Kirie still has separation issues, but does well in the foster home left with other dogs and free reign within the home. She is on a generic Prozac to help her manage with anxiety. Kirie loves to snuggle with her people on the couch and in bed and absolutely loves to give kisses. She is looking for a family that will give her plenty of attention, be home more than not, play fetch, take her on walks in the neighborhood. She adores children and is very gentle with them. Kirie so looks forward to rides in the car. She would enjoy being an only dog, but would do fine with a furry companion that has a laissez-faire attitude. She does best if the door is open or a doggie door for her to go out as needed. She needs a more experienced dog owner because she has been through so much in life. If you are interested in adopting Kirie, please submit an adoption application located on our website, .coloradocaninerescue. We are asking for a $200 adoption donation for Kirie. Kirie being a bully breed, will only be placed in communities that do not have a ban on bullies. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter.

    Kelsey

    rescue
    Breed: Chihuahua-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Meet Kelsey! She is 3 years old and weighs just over 8 pounds. She is available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. Kelsey came to CCR from a shelter in Texas with my two newborn puppies. She has been through a rough time but has come a long way and survived heart worm! CCR has been told that Kelsey is a Chihuahua breed but that is just a guess made by shelter staff, rescue volunteers, and our veterinarians. Kelsey is the perfect mix of snuggler and playmate for other small dogs. She enjoys sitting on and being near you and may follow you around at times. Other times she prefers quietly playing with her foster siblings in a dog bed or exploring in the yard. She also enjoys a nice game of tug of war with toys now and then. Kelsey is sweet, gentle, loving and not a yapper. She enjoys a calm home with someone there most of the day. She should continue to have socialization with new people and small dogs as it would be beneficial to keep her well balanced. Kelsey has not been around young children will likely do best in a home with no children or older, respectful children. Kelsey loves sunbathing in the yard and rolling in the grass. She will thrive in a home with another small (under 15 pounds), playful dog and someone who will reinforce her being independent. Kelsey goes to the door when she wants to go outside and thunderstorms do not bother her. She can escape the tiniest hole in a fence so must never be left outside alone. She will do fine in a house with fenced yard. In an apartment she must be allowed to go outside to explore in the grass daily and potty walks. She walks great on leash and xx small harness. Kelsey prefers not being crated and she has the run of the house day and night. She sleeps in her own dog bed in her foster Mom’s room with her foster siblings. Crating – once she knows her routine she is ok with it as long as most of her day is spent uncrated. She is not much of a barker unless there is a reason to and we do not treat her as a lap dog to ensure she does not become an insecure yapper. She is independent but not a Dog park Dog as she does not trust medium or large dogs until she has spent tons of time with them. Kelsey has really bonded with her foster sibling Peaches. They are like two peas in the pod - so much so that a donor has offered $50 off the total adoption fee if they are adopted together. ***Note about Kelsey: she has tested as heart worm positive and is finishing up heart worm treatment. She will need to be on heart worm prevention year round for the rest of her life. Thankfully these tablets are very inexpensive. If adopted Kelsey needs to go in for a HW re-test and injection if in May at our expense to our clinic. If you are interested in adopting Kelsey please submit an adoption application located on our website, .coloradocaninerescue. We are requesting a $200.00 adoption donation for her which includes her spay, vaccinations and microchip. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. Remember that all dogs will have an adjustment period when going into a new home and that includes knowing when/where to potty.

    Dory

    Breed: Beagle-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Retriever / Beagle / Mixed (short coat). My name is Dory. I am available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. I came to CCR from Roswell, New Mexico. There is very little history on me. CCR has been told I am a Labrador Retriever/Beagle breed mix, but that is just a guess made by shelter staff, rescue volunteers, and our veterinarians. My foster mom named me after Dory from a movie that humans seem to love…Finding Nemo! She says that’s because like Dory the fish, I am extra happy, playful and positive with a “just keep swimming” attitude. My humans tell me that I’m about 8 months old, so I’m still a baby. I wasn’t taken care of very well in New Mexico. I’m healthy, but my foster mom says I need to gain a little more weight. I also haven’t quite learned how to do normal doggie things like only go potty outside or walk on a leash. I sometimes still have accidents inside, but I promise I’m trying hard to remember that’s not OK. I don’t mind having a leash on, but I get REALLY excited to go on walks and pull hard…I’m trying to remember not to do that. I live with my foster parents, two dog brothers and a human brother who is 8 years old. I love them all!! I love all people of all sizes, they are just so much fun to play with and snuggle with. I LOVE to give hugs, but I will get down if you tell me to. My foster mom says that for how much energy I have, I am very gentle. I want to play with my foster dog brothers ALL THE TIME, but I think they get worn out and sometimes get grumpy with me. I wouldn’t mind being an only dog, but I would really enjoy another dog brother or sister who plays just as much as I do, which is A LOT! I have heard of these other creatures called cats, but I’ve never been around one, so I don’t know if I’d like them or not. I like everyone, though, so my foster mom thinks I’d be OK with one. When my foster family leaves for the day, I stay in a big crate. I also sleep in the crate at night, next to the bed, and I really don’t mind if I have room to stretch out. Sometimes I’ll bark a little bit when they leave because I am sad, but then I remember they’ll be back, and I just sleep until they come home. I feel safe in my crate, especially when I get a treat for going in. I really like that I have a fenced yard to play in. Did I mention how much I love to play?? I have LOTS of energy and I am just so happy all the time that my body sometimes can’t contain it. Don’t get me wrong, I love to snuggle on the couch after a long day…but I need to get my wiggles out first. I will definitely need to live with a family that has a house with a yard where I can run around and I also think I would really like for someone to take me on lots of walks, or maybe even runs. I’ve heard that some dogs like me can do things called “agility courses” and I think I might be very good at those! I am so excited to find my new forever family, and all I want to do is be happy and make my family happy. I hope you’ll give me a chance, I promise I’ll be your best friend forever!! If you are interested in adopting Dory, please submit an adoption application located on our website, .coloradocaninerescue. We are asking for a $300 adoption donation. Dory is up to date on vaccinations and will be spayed prior to adoption. CCR cannot hold dogs, arrange meet and greets or adopt out any dogs without a completed adoption application. CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. Dogs listed as potty trained may experience an adjustment period as they learn the routines in their new home.
