  • Mastiff-Saint Bernard Mix Dog For Adoption in Newcastle, Ontario, Canada

    Vanna

    Breed: Mastiff-Saint Bernard Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Mastiff / Saint Bernard / Mixed. I wanna be your shot gun rider, and cleanup crew for any snacks you might want to share!!!Meet Vanna or Miss Vanna as we call her, our big loud, lovable lady of the house, she rules her roost with a loud bark and good sniff of all who enter. She’s a country girl at heart, no big city hustle and bustle for her. Vanna is looking for a forever home that is quiet and laid back so she isn’t always on guard protecting her family. Somewhere with a nice back yard to patrol around and maybe a small park to take a wander though and sniff out the locals... Vanna likes to lie quietly (snoring aside) until someone comes to the door that requires a full assessment of barking and a good sniff inspection before she allows access. Otherwise you can find her snoozing in another room until she is required to protect her domain. She does not beg or whine for food and is very particular about the treats she does take. She enjoys a good belly rub from anyone willing to give a little attention, older children (over 10) included. She completely ignores the cats, and responds well when redirected from barking at other dogs that she can hear outside. Once she realizes they are not a threat to her people she can ignore the noises easily. She loves going for leisurely walks around the neighborhood but her need to protect is escalated while on leash and thus we are working on learning her manners when we meet strange dogs and careful to give a wide observation view to ensure no aggression can happen.Vanna is looking for a home that she can call her own and a family that takes the time to show her the world is not a scary place that requires her to protect her people from. things to know about Vanna- 5 Years old- Mastiff x ( not sure what the X is) - an experienced owner is preferred for training- no kids under the age of 10 please

    Emma

    rescue
    Breed: Jug
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Pug / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed. Ok, people. It’s time to talk about me. The name’s Emma, and I am, well, pretty close to perfection! I know it sounds like I am tooting my own horn (toot! toot!) but as my foster mom says, “if you don’t toot your own horn, who the heck is going to do it for ya?” So let the tooting begin: I am a beautiful Jack Russell/Pug mix – I think that makes me a Jug. And I am not shy about telling you that I truly got the best of both breeds! I am smart like a Jack, but I chill just like a pug!! I love my foster fam, but I’m a bit bummed that I ended up here. You see, the word on the street is that I get a bit excited when I meet other furry friends. And sometimes I bark when someone comes to the door, but once I do my welcome dance, I chill right out. And I ask you, isn’t that exactly what beautiful balls of wonderfulness’es like me are supposed to do? (eye-roll) And by the way, I love walks. In fact, walks are one of my favourite things! I even got this super-cool harness which reminds me of my manners. I got other favourite things too, like my little giraffe stuffie! And the veggies that I get when my foster people are making dinner! Oh and did I mention cuddles??? I am not going to lie to you… I can out-pug any pug with my delicious cuddles! You should also know that I like my crate. I spend all day snoozing in it until my people come home. But my all-time favourite resting place is at the foot of my foster brother’s bed. Life is pretty good over here! And ya, I am 10 years old, but age is just a number, folks. Frankly, I think someone must have made a mistake, ‘cuz I got no medical issues, no allergies, nothing but sheer awesome Jug-ness. Well, ok, maybe, just maybe, I have a few grey hairs on my adorable snout…. Ack… I did just spot a few on my belly, but my foster mom says they only add to my allure. Thank goodness! Speaking of allure … one of the best things about me is that I am pretty easy-going with all people, little or big. But if I could choose, a home without little people and other furry friends would fit me the best. And let’s be honest, I am really all you will ever need. I have been told that my warm, sad eyes have a story to tell. The truth is, my eyes are filled with dreams!! Dreams of a family of my own that I can cuddle with until I really am old and grey. Will you be part of my story?Emma would be best suited in a home with older children over the age of 16- no dogs- no catsEmma is being fostered in Toronto

Posted Breed: American Bulldog. * CROSS POST ONLY PLEASE APPLY DIRECTLY THROUGH LINK AT BOTTOMHalo is a gorgeous American Bulldog who has had a hard past. He has been in multiple homes and shelters. Everyone who meets him loves him. He is loyal, funny and sweet and smart. He knows all basic commands, he is house-trained and he loves all people. His issue is that he absolutely needs to be the only animal in his home. We believe Halo was in the wrong hands at one point in his life and was taught to be aggressive towards other animals...even against his own will and to his own peril. So as hard as he tries to be accepting, that instinct is always going to be there making him unpredictable in the presence of other dogs. We want Halo to find his much deserved place in this world more than anything as he truly is an amazing dog and a wonderful friend to his humans. We are looking for someone who is going to be perfect for Halo so he can be perfect for them and we will not compromise and risk him being moved again. His next family must be his last as he deserves nothing less. That said, if you have an animal free home, children over the age of 12 , and you are willing to commit to this awesome dog, please click the button below and complete an adoption application. Posted Breed: Bluetick Coonhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. My name is Samuel, but you can call me Sammy or Sam! I found myself in an overcrowded Kentucky shelter where they had me labelled as a stray. I quickly won over the hearts of the shelter staff and they called me their favourite! I sure was happy when these Gentle Jake's folks got me a lift to Ontario to my foster home. I'm a happy-go-lucky guy who just loves all people. I enjoy meeting people, and if you sit still long enough I'll make myself comfortable on your lap. I enjoy going for walks and I just love getting out and sniffing and seeing all the sights. Squirrels really get my attention! Hang on because I'm gonna try to check them out on our walks ;) Hate to say it but cats are a big nope for me. I'm great with all of the dogs I meet at the park! I give them a happy hello and then wander off to check out the smells around the park. I just love food and am working on filling out my waistline. Being a stray was hard on the body but I'm doing so good with this healthy food and loving that just keeps flowing! I'm proud to say I am housetrained now too! I'm looking for a loving retirement home to call my own. I'm not ready to lay on the sofa all day just yet, so you'll still need to commit to taking me out everyday and then letting me lounge the rest of the time. Sounds good doesn't it?! Breed: English Coonhound

Posted Breed: English Coonhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. Sugar is just about the sweetest hound we've met! An English Coonhound, aged 2 1/2 years and 60lbs. She's a gentle and loving girl who will steal your heart with her soulful eyes and gentle, easy going and loving spirit. Sugar loves meeting new people and will use her paw to bring your hand in to her for more pets when she wants more. Sugar is an expert napper and will have no problem letting you sleep in on weekends if you want. She loves to nap and lounge on your bed or furniture. She really loves to lay where the people are and always chooses the sofa to sleep on. A typical hound, Sugar loves her walks. Sniffing and exploring are two favourite things, aside from giving a big arooo to the squirrels! She visits parks as well as downtown shops where people are out and about and does fine in these environments. Sugar loves the company of another dog. A little bit of play followed by a walk and a nice nap will round out her day perfectly. She's a sensitive girl and will thrive in a more calm home with gentle and positive training methods used. Sugar has wonderful house manners and she is “learning the ropes and almost there but just needs an adopter that can continue helping her learn that outside where she should do her business. Foster Mom says she's super smart and catches on quickly. A long work day of 8-9 hours may require a mid day let out until she's settled and reliable. She prefers not to be crated and will do best initially in a contained area of the home while you are away. Sugar has not been tested with cats. Currently in foster care in Plymouth, Michigan, for an approved adopter transport can be arranged within MI, OH, Ontario and Quebec. Ophelia

    rescue
    Breed: Bulloxer
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Boxer / American Bulldog / Mixed. Hi there! I am Ophelia, a quite silly but very loving and affectionate 2 year-old boxer/American bull dog mix. Although sometimes I get a little nervous at first meet and I might whine a bit, I really, really love to please and will do whatever you ask of me to get head rubs and ear scratches or belly rub. Foster Mom says that someone must have spent some time with me because I know all my basic commands (Sit, Down, Wait) and I am a quick learner - she is a dog walker and I have already learned "Side" which means move to the grass and wait when other people are walking on the sidewalk. My recall is also excellent - I come pretty much right away when you call my name ... and you have to realize just how hard of a name Ophelia is to learn - really!! I love people but am a little nervous at first with some men and Foster Mom thinks that I am best with older children (12 years and up) because I get a little nervous and wound up with all the energy that those little people bring. Foster Mom is a dog walker and she has let me walk with a few of her pack buddies (a couple of boxers, a golden retriever, a black lab and a lab mix) because she says that they will help me to relax more and be a happy dog. I am also good with cats but only those that are "dog savvy" - do not hiss, spit or run from me but instead head butt me, run in and out between my legs, drink from my water bowl and even steal my dog beds! Can you believe the nerve?! No small animals though because their energy gets me going and I just want to chase them.Foster Mom says that you need to be an experienced dog owner though, especially with the higher than normal energy dogs because my excitement can sometimes get the better of me - I sometimes whine and try to jump up when other dogs come along - Foster Mom makes me move to the side and sit to calm myself down when this happens. I absolutely LOVE going for walks - it is my most favourite thing to do - and Foster Mom takes me for 3-4 walks each day because she says that I am a boxer mix and require that much to "burn my energy". Sometimes I get to go on pack walks with 1-3 other dogs on week day mornings and then I usually get 2 more walks with Foster Mom before and after my dinner. Sometimes I even get to go off-leash with a few of Foster Mom's pack dogs when I am on my best behaviour - that is the best reward ever - splashing in the creek and running along trails - it is awesome!Diet-wise, I am fed raw food two times a day because I have skin allergies. Foster Mom says that she can definitely provide you with any information about feeding raw if needed and can also put you in touch with a couple of distributors. I am also completely house trained AND crate trained ... in fact, I love my crate and often go there at night to unwind closer to bedtime because it helps to relax. So, if you are looking for a super affectionate, loving, eager to please but higher than normal energy dog AND you are experienced with dogs of this type (boxers, huskies, Vizslas, etc.) plus are willing to help me get over my initial nervous energy, I promise to give you all I have to offer ... with a few licks to the face thrown in (if you are okay with that?!).Ophelia is being fostered, loved and cared for in Ajax.EXPERIENCED OWNERHouse trained and crate trainedVaccinated and Micro-chippedBest with adults and children 12 years old and upA HOME WITH NO OTHER DOGS!! Good with "dog-savvy" cats - those who do not growl/hiss or run from dogs but accept them and are confident around them - display no fear. Not recommended with other small animals like rabbits as she has shown prey drive.Currently fed a raw diet as exhibited skin allergies with dog food.

    Breed: American Bulldog
    Sex: Female Female

    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: American Bulldog. COMING SOON It’s true. I am magnificent.I am a beautiful 10-year-old white American bulldog named Meka. My name is Hawaiian and means eyes, which makes perfect sense since my peepers are the best thing about me - all warm and delicious like caramel! Add these lovelies to my cute brown spots (which happen to be in all the right places!) and I bet you just want to gobble me up!My foster mom says that I am the perfect mix of rest and relaxation, which is about right. Lying in the sun alone is totally my fave thing to do, just like long naps in my foster mom’s front room. A girl’s got to get her beauty sleep, you know. And if it is warm, even better. I am not fan of going for walks, I would much rather lie around and snooze (wouldn't you?).When I am not lounging around, I am busy showing off my many talents. I can sit, shake a paw and lie down – you really need to see it to believe it. I’m amazing! And the awesomeness doesn’t stop there. I am a bit loud sometimes, I will bark at outside noises, and if I spot another dog walking by, I get really excited. I am one cool cat, I just can't help myself from pushing other dogs around sometimes if they are getting out of line. I’m not a fan of thunderstorms (who is, really?), I hide behind my foster mom's legs. In fact, any loud noises make me nervous, even loud children freak me out a bit. And while we are talking about things I don't like, I like to be the lone ranger in the house - other pets make me nervous, but I warm up after a slow introduction. I have just started to join my foster parents upstairs at bedtime. Before, I would sleep downstairs by myself, but now I sleep on this comfy bed on the floor right beside theirs.I love, love, love to be loved, especially scratches in front of my ears and down the side of my neck, sometimes the belly if I am feeling the vibe but not the back of my legs. That feels weird. I also really like to chew bones, but I don't play with toys much.I also guard my food sometimes. I am sorry about that, it's what happens when you are used to fighting to get something to eat. I am working at getting better at this.I am a pretty special sweetie, but I have a had a rough go of it with humans who just didn't appreciate my wonderfulness, and didn't treat me all that nice sometimes. My foster mom has been working hard to gather the pieces of my broken heart, and I am learning to trust again. I think I could really get used to this whole Love thing. My special person will be a grown-up who can give me lots of love and extra snuggles in storms, who has patience with a broken heart, but also let me know that they are the boss, since I really need guidance to learn my manners. If this sounds like you, don’t wait another minute! Let me be “the One” and you will wonder what you ever did without me. I promise.NO LITTLE PEOPLE PLEASE- TEENAGERS ARE FINEEXPERIENCED OWNER
