    Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. Blue here! I found myself in a rural Kentucky shelter. No one came looking for me so the nice people at the shelter kept talking about my time being up. That made them sad, which made me sad. Then one day Gentle Jake's said YES to helping me find my furever home! Off I went on my journey north! I arrived at my foster home and was super excited to have them teach me about living indoors, playing nicely with other dogs, and that cats are not for chasing. I got these things down pat pretty quick...especially the cat...one smack across the face was all I needed :D I love my crate and am happy to hang out there for the night or during the day if you have to be away from home. I walk well on a leash buy keep in mind I am a young lad so you'll need to remind me from time to time not to pull. I bet one of those Gentle Leaders or a chest harness might help. I have met people young and old and have loved them all. I get along with dogs my own size but have met a few dogs much bigger than me that I wasn't sure of. I think I just need to work on my confidence since I'm still figuring all of this stuff out. What I really need, is a home of my own. You see, I just know that this place I'm staying at right now isn't my forever. They love me, treat me great and give me lots of food, but it's just not the same. My nose tells me there is a family waiting for me somewhere... I am three years old, about 55 pounds, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and healthy as a horse err.. hound! NOTE: Through absolutely NO fault of his own, Blue's foster home was no longer able to care for the animals in their home. Blue has been relocated to a temporary foster home while he waits for an adopter. Gentle Jake's will consider foster-to-adopt, foster, and adoption applications for Blue. Blue is such a sweetheart and is adapting very well to his recent move. Please Note: We are all volunteers and busy taking care of our foster dogs so please take the time to fill out our on-line adoption application if you are interested in more information about any of the hounds that we have for adoption. Filling out our application does not obligate you to adopt in any way. It does, however, help us to determine if the dog that your interested in would be a good match for your family and lifestyle. All of our dogs are fully vetted. They have been vaccinated, altered, microchipped and heartworm tested and on prevention. VISIT COONHOUND COMPANIONS WEBSITE TO SEE WHY ADOPTING A COONHOUND CAN BE A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! www.coonhoundcompanions.com ADOPTION FEE: $400.00 LOCATION: Blue is currently in foster care in Cobourg, ON. Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. Kimmy loves you already — and you’ve only just met through a picture! Kimmy is a gentle, QUIET soul, and is an empathic snuggle-bear! Kimmy absolutely loves everyone she meets; small humans, big humans, small dogs and big dogs, she is simply a social butterfly. As a people pleaser she is always ready and waiting to accompany you, whether its on a long walk or on an afternoon siesta, she is ready! Did we mention that she loves sleeping in? Her go with the flow attitude, allows you the luxury of having a wonderful night of rest. Kimmy would happily join you in your bed or just as happily lay in a crate or doggie bed. Kimmy looks you right in the eye as you pet her as if to say "I love you". Unlike most hounds, Kimmy takes her time when it comes to eating. She shows no sign of resource guarding and is getting along great with her Beagle foster sibling. Kimmy has also met a cat with a wagging tail and a happy curiosity. Kimmy is a very quiet girl who LOVES her walks. She is doing a great job of leash walking and only pulls a little when she sees a person or dog she wants to say hello to. Kimmy is housetrained and does not require a crate, but will go in one if that is your preference while you are away. A great travel companion, she lays down in the back seat and enjoys the ride! Kimmy is a hound mix, between 2 and 3 years old, and weighs 60 pounds. She has a beautiful coat and hardly sheds at all! She's truly a puppy at heart ready to explore the world. An active family wanting a perfect hiking/walking/travel companion will not be disappointed with Kimmy as a loving addition. WALNUT

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Chihuahua
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (medium coat). Walnut is a 7 year old male chihuahua and weighs 8lbs. He is a spunky guy who loves to be around people. He bounces around seeking attention. Walnut may do well with another small calm dog but he would have to meet them first. This breed will need regular dental cleanings to prevent periodontal disease. You can discuss this with your veterinarian. Walnut came into the shelter as a stray and is fairly skinny. He will need to gain a little bit of weight in order to be a healthy size. He is clean in his kennel. Walnut would do well in a home where he isn''t left alone for a long period of time.

    Breed: Parson Russell Terrier-Whippet Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult

Posted Breed: Whippet / Parson Russell Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Princess is a 6 year old whippet/jack russell mix. She weighs 27lbs. She is shy when you first meet her. She can be nervous with strangers and new surroundings. Once she is comfortable with you she loves to be around you. Princess would need to go to a home that has no other pets. Her breed has a high prey drive and she would do better being the only pet. She can be vocal and whimper when left alone. For this reason she should not go to an apartment/condo and should not be left alone for long hours. She is house trained and clean in her kennel. Princess needs an owner who has the time and patience to help her build appropriate confidence. If you are interested in her all members of the family must meet her.

    Breed: Boxer-Mastiff Mix

Posted Breed: Boxer / Mastiff / Mixed. Hiya dudes!! The name’s Amber, and I am amazing!! In fact, the list of everything that makes me pure 2-year-old wonderfulness is so long, I am not sure I can fit it all here, but I will try!!I guess the best thing about me is that I love to cuddle! Don’t let my size fool you - I can out-lapdog any dog! My foster mom is always telling me how gentle I am. I love kids and they really love me (ooooh, my favourite thing is a little people belly rub!!). There’s something else though - she may not want you to know because it might make her look bad - but I am a party animal!! I have never met a tug-of-war I didn’t like! You see, I was alone for a while on the street and I never learned what a toy was. But my foster sister has been teaching me some cool tricks. I think I am way better than her, but don’t tell her I said that - she is a bit of a diva.My foster mom says that I have lots of energy - which I think makes me a great catch - but she says that I would be perfect in a home with older kids since sometimes my joy gets the best of me.I am crate trained but I’m not going to lie to you... the couch is way better (my foster mom always makes me get off sigh...)And well, you know that saying, where there is sun, there is rain? I guess you could say I have a sprinkle. Although I know most of my manners, I love to pull on my leash when I see other dogs - no biggie though, I am working really hard on this. And I got this thing about forgetting to ask to go outside to pee. I know, I know. I just don’t want to leave all the goodness that’s inside the house to go outside! You can understand that, right? My foster mom says I have FOMO (fear of missing out). Whatevs, is what I say! She says that I must have been pad-trained in my old life, because I pee on a mat. Don’t let this bring you down though, because I don’t like it any more than you do. Going outside to pee is on my list of goals for 2018. Trust me.The truth is... I am an all-star. I am still shocked that I ended up alone on the street, but those days are long gone. The life I was meant to have has begun and I love it! All of my wishes have come true.... except one. What I want more than anything is a forever family that I can call my own and grow old with. We’ll play together and cuddle and rub bellies... (ok, they’ll rub my belly.) I am the furry awesomeness your life has been missing. I promise.AMBER IS STILL WORKING ON HOUSE TRAINING SO CONSISTENCY IS A MUST- CATS UNKNOWN- KIDS OVER THE AGE OF 7 PLEASE

    Smudge

    rescue
Breed: Boston Terrier-Jack Russell Terrier Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Boston Terrier / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed. Hi everyone my name is Smudge. I am a 9 year young Boston terrier mix. I found myself all alone in an animal shelter when the only human I had ever known got himself a new family and left me behind. There were a whole bunch of kids in the new house he moved to which really freaked me out.. a mature gentleman like me has very little interest in babysitting so now I am alone and looking for a new human or two with no kids to be my family! I am a great house dog and would be very content with even a small fenced yard to run in a little when I feel the need to let loose! I kind of like to tell off any dogs I see on leash but I am an older guy so walks are not a requirement for me. Now don’t get me wrong I can get along with other dogs (I live with another senior now) but they tell me I can be a little exuberant at first meeting so any roommate would need to be patient for a couple days till I can get used to seeing them around. I haven’t really made up my mind about these “cats” they have in foster care I’m getting used to them and most of the time I ignore them or am just a bit curious but if I’m in the mood I’ll let out a quick bark just to give them a scare ..keeps them on their toes you know and it’s funny to watch them scatter!! I do love a good nap and am very content to curl up next to you on the couch if I feel like a good pat is in order! In fact I pretty much want to be close to you most of the time like at your feet but I’m not a cutesy snuggly huggy kinda guy especially until we really get to know each other! I do like some personal space and I really am not fond of people getting in my face - it’s a little rude, you know! I have found that snapping in someones face if they make me uncomfortable has always worked before but my foster family says I need to be nicer about it if I want to get a new family so I’m working on it. I am a dog not a baby though so no picking me up just cause I’m a little guy doesn’t make me a fru fru I am a manly little man! I personally think I’d make a fantastic roommate, I am housetrained, I don’t wreck stuff I’m not yappy, I love my toys...aaand I do the best happy dance when you come home! If you think we might be a perfect match get your application in, I’m pretty awesome and need a pretty awesome person to bring me home.. oh and I sing...🎶No kids under the age of 16 please!!Smudge is being fostered and loved in Penetanguishene
