  • Boxer-Mastiff Mix Dog For Adoption in St Mary's, Ontario, Canada

    Jax

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Boxer-Mastiff Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Boxer / Mastiff / Mixed (short coat). 7 month old "awesome paw-some" mix. Loving & energetic pup Jax has got personality plus! He is keeping company in foster care with 2 humans and a kitty cat. Jax is housetrained and is learning to sleep well in his crate at night or when his people need to go out for short periods. He enjoys walks on leash but can sometimes become excited about squirrels, birds, and people he sees approaching. He is a happy and energetic puppy, so work on his manners to sit before being petted is in progress, and will need to be continued by adopters committed to using positive reinforcement only. At home Jax wants dearly to play with the resident cat but his size has so far overwhelmed his feline friend. Meeting people or other canines is no problem for friendly Jax. Because Jax is active and will grow even more into a large-sized dog, he will benefit from having a yard of his own in a fully detached home to keep him happy and safe. It will be essential for his forever family to be active and take Jax for lots of walks including some off-leash adventures in a contained environment. Jax has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has received flea & tick preventative. This goofy and entertaining pup who often shows his gentle and sensitive side is oh so ready to settle into the right forever home! If you’d like to apply to meet Jax, visit www.arfontario.com/project/jax.

    Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. I'm Roscoe! I would love an adventurous family willing to take me with them to explore. I found myself in a Kentucky shelter when my owner was deployed overseas with the military. I sure am glad Gentle Jake's found me a great foster home to hang out in while I wait for the amazing family that I know is waiting for me. Here's what you need to know before you fall in love with me. After all, it's for better or worse so don't string me along if you aren't in it for the long haul! I love people! I happily engage with young and old, and get super excited to meet new people on my walks or out in public. I'm only 2 years old so am still working on dialing it back a little with greeting new peeps. Who knew not everyone wants kisses?! I love exploring and going for walks. My foster Mom says no off-leash time in an unfenced area for me though. I guess no one wants to chase after me for miles and miles? Makes sense since my people are supposed to keep me safe! That means ideally I should have a fenced property. Inside the house I love my crate! I'm happy to sleep there and hang out while you have to be at work or away from home. I'm a big boy at 90lbs so make sure it's plenty big enough! At night I really like the idea of sleeping on your bed with you, but if you insist, I'll choose a dog bed instead. I am sharing my foster home with a Beagle and I think the wee mini-me is really cool. We get along great and haven't had any squabbles over toys or treats! Cats on the other hand, are a no-go zone for me. If you are up for a big bundle of hound awesomeness, I am your guy! Fill out an application and my foster Mom will get in touch with you to talk more about me. Please Note: We are all volunteers and busy taking care of our foster dogs so please take the time to fill out our on-line adoption application if you are interested in more information about any of the hounds that we have for adoption. Filling out our application does not obligate you to adopt in any way. It does, however, help us to determine if the dog that your interested in would be a good match for your family and lifestyle. All of our dogs are fully vetted. They have been vaccinated, altered, microchipped and heartworm tested and on prevention. VISIT COONHOUND COMPANIONS WEBSITE TO SEE WHY ADOPTING A COONHOUND CAN BE A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! www.coonhoundcompanions.com ADOPTION FEE: $400.00 LOCATION: Roscoe is currently in foster care in Dundalk, ON. Breed: Chow Chow
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Chow Chow (long coat). Jack Jack is a handsome compact four and a half year old rough coat male weighing approximately 60 lbs. His coat was shaved due to extreme neglect. Jack lived most of his life outside on a line or inside in the basement. This has shattered his confidence but with the help of his sister, he copes just fine. He’ll happily run around the yard, or relax inside. If you offer Jack some attention he’s super happy to receive it from just about anybody! His little tail wages with excitement hoping you’ll notice him. Jack is good with other dogs and just wants to play. We’re still working on leash manners and basic obedience but his charming relaxed demeanor makes him almost perfect just the way he is. Jack wishes he can stay with his sister but also needs his time with his humans for love and affection. If you can offer enough love for two great little dogs, then you’ll be rewarded with twice the love and double happiness. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We only respond to serious inquiries. Breed: Chow Chow
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Chow Chow (medium coat). Jill Jill is an adorable little five year old rough coat female weighing approximately 40 lbs. Her coat was shaved due to neglect but growing in nicely. Her knee jerk reaction is to close her eyes and duck when anything including your hand approaches her head. This sweet little girl is desperate to be part of a family. She will bond very quickly, be super attentive to her person and enjoy endless attention. Though Jill is a petite chowette, when on guard duty, she packs a bi g growl. We’re still working hard on leash manners. Fortunately she is so darn cute, gentle and affectionate it almost makes up for her lack of basic obedience. When Jill is not intently watching what you’re doing, or on squirrel alert, she enjoys play wrestling with her brother. Watching them play is not only entertaining but it fills you up with happiness. This little pair keep each other company and rely on each other for reassurance. Ideally they are hoping to find a home where they can run and play in a fenced yard ( they like to play!) and someone who will give them the attention they so desperately seek. Jill would crawl up in your lap if she could and relish being petted and snuggled for hours. She truly is a sweet petite. Jack and Jill are looking for a special home where they won't be left alone for endless hours and instead feel like they matter and be part of a family. Only apply if you can give these two the life every dog deserves. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We only respond to serious inquiries. Angel is a quick learner and is very food motivated, making training very effective. She is eager to please and is working hard on her housetraining. She loves to play with other dogs and big kids. Small children do make Angel a little nervous with their fast movements and loud voices. Cats and small critters are not recommended due to her prey drive. Angel enjoys spending time lounging outside and exploring her yard. She requires a fully fenced yard to keep her safe. She loves going for walks and is doing well with her leash manners. Angel is crate trained. An active family who loves to be outdoors with their dog is ideal. Posted Breed: Redbone Coonhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. Hi! My name is Emmy! Even though I’m a pocket sized Red Bone Coonie there is nothing small about the amount of love I have to give. Foster Momma says I give the best kisses ever! I love people of all heights and doggies of all breeds! I saw a cat at the vet's office and didn't react to it. I hear they plan to introduce me to another cat soon so I can decide what I really think of them, but I’m pretty sure I don’t know or care what a cat is. I love running around the backyard with my buddies, but I also love laying on the couch with Momma watching TV. If allowed I will snuggle with you in bed too... that’s my favorite! I am quiet in the house and am perfectly house trained. I'm not destructive so don't need to be crated. I enjoy going for walks and do great with my harness. I have lots of energy and love to play with other dogs. No signs of arthritis in this girl! My teeth are in great shape too! The vet checked them all over and cleaned them so nice when I was in for my spay! Oh here are some facts about me that Foster Momma says are important... I arrived at the shelter as a stray in Kentucky at the beginning of April. They discovered that I was microchipped but turns out I was given away and no one came looking for me. My microchip said I was 4 years old but my frosted face made the shelter think otherwise, and they listed me as 8. My Foster Mom said I sure don't seem 8. We've all agreed that I'm between 5 and 8 years old. I weigh 42 lbs and could stand to gain about 8lbs. I am heartworm negative, Lyme disease negative, and I’m spayed, so no more babies for me... I’m over that! So if you love soft, sweet, frosted faces and lots of love, look no further... I am available for adoption thru Gentle Jakes Coonhound Rescue. When filling your your app don’t forget to ask for Emmy! You won’t be sorry! Posted Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. Hi! My name is Ethel….you know, like Lucy’s best friend? I’m actually a lot like that famous Ethel. I am quiet, a little shy, easy going, gentle, playful and very young at heart. Even though they say I’m almost 8, I still like to run around outside, playing chase with my foster siblings. I get along with all of them really well now, but I was a little nervous around them at first, so slow introductions are better for me. I am very nice around young kids and like to sniff them a lot. I never steal their toys, but sometimes I want the baby’s blanket in my crate with me. It’s so soft and smells so good! I’m house and crate trained and know how to use the doggie door, and I am very well-behaved when left inside alone. I can be a little jumpy when surprised by loud noises but I’m getting used to them. I do well walking on a leash and I love to ride in the car. I’m not a counter surfer, although I do like to sniff to see if there’s anything interesting up there. I get along great with other dogs and cats! I am a very quiet, laid back kinda gal who is basically just happiest curled up on the couch napping the day away or gazing at my foster mom and dad while they tell me how pretty I am. I mean, who wouldn’t, right? I promise to keep you company every single day, wag my tail whenever you look at me, listen closely to all your stories, and love you forever and ever! • Bull-Boxer Dog For Adoption in Newcastle, Ontario, Canada

    Nelly

    rescue
    Breed: Bull-Boxer
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: English Bulldog / Boxer / Mixed. Nelly is looking for a very special forever home.Nelly is a playful and sweet two year old female bulldog x boxer weighing in at 80 lb. As a typical young dog, she loves to be social and play. What is less typical is that she has severe hip dysplasia and likely torn cruciate ligaments in her back legs. We have a current plan of care, but she is likely to have future medical needs and a shorter lifespan. This beautiful and friendly girl deserves a happy life, so we are hoping to find a family that understands these issues and is willing to give her the love that she deserves. She is housetrained, good on the leash (although easily distracted by interesting things and wanting to greet other people/animals) and knows basic commands. She LOVES attention and has spurts of puppy energy at times. She will need an owner who can continue her training, provide a solid routine and gives lots of cuddles. Here is more from Nelly herself:"To my furever family, wherever you are,The name’s Nelly and I hate to toot my own horn, but I am Amazing!!! Yup, that’s right! I really do have it all: a great bod, personality, manners... not to mention gorgeous chocolatey eyes that you will just want to dive into!!! I am what my foster mom calls a dream puppy. I am happy to see everyone - men, women, kids. I know I am a big girl, so I never jump - but I do wiggle... a lot! I might be best with older kids just because I am so large. I also like to show off my cute little tail, it's very unique - curly, but straight! You really have to see it to believe it!The neighbours call me Ms Social Butterfly because I have to pause and take a look at everyone who passes by - most of the time they can’t resist my good looks and have to stop and rub my head. I love that! I also love cats (though they don’t like me much) and all dogs! I am pretty good on leash, although I pull sometimes if there is something interesting that I need to sniff. I am working on that. My foster mom is always complimenting me on my good manners. I sit quietly while she gets my dinner ready and I don’t mind at all if the little people take my bowl or interrupt me when I am eating. Sometimes I will bark a bit to get your attention if I am hungry or want attention.I like to take long walks to burn off a bit of my puppy energy, but after some exercise you’ll find me snoring away for a few hours.Though you couldn’t tell by watching me play in the park, I have some hip issues. The vet says I will need surgery at some point, but right now, I am doing really well on anti-inflammatory medication and Omega-3’s. None of this stops me from trying to sit in your lap 'cuz snuggling my people is where I like to be most.I would be really happy to be the only dog in the house, or with another dog who likes to romp. And I really like to chase things, so I wouldn’t complain if you wanted to throw a frisbee or a ball... I will bring it back to you! Oh and let me tell you how much I love stuffies!! Well, I do! One of my favourite things is to carry them around with me. My little people say that I look adorable when I have a stuffed frog hanging out of my mouth! So you see, I am really the whole package!! And I really would like to have a family of my own to grow old with. And don't let my hip troubles scare you away, because if you let me into your heart, I will sleep on your lap when you need warming up, lean on your shoulder when you are feeling sad, snore when you need a song and sit beside you always your loyal friend. And I will love you forever. I promise. Love, Nelly”Nelly has had X-rays of her hind end and has been seen by several vets to discuss her care plan. The focus has been on maintaining quality of life and she has been doing well on Metacam and Omega 3. Gabapentin was also helpful during a flare up. Her future remains somewhat unclear. Possibilities include hip and/or knee surgery, use of a mobility device , or taking a palliative care approach.

    Breed: Jug
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: Canada
Posted Breed: Pug / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed. Emma settled in to our family quickly, she is a quiet and gentle soul, and is a great companion. She is a mature 10 years old and looks every bit the old gentle lady, she weights a bit less than 9 lbs with a good appetite and she free feeds a dry kibble and enjoys fresh carrots, peas and corn. She has no allergies or medical conditions. She always enjoys being around her people, she will sit close and let you pet here, however, she does not demand to be on your lap. She is approachable by strangers, however, will bark when a stranger shows up at the door. We have not seen her interacting with cats or dog, however, we are led to believe that she does not like other dogs. We have lovebirds, and occasionally she will want to sniff them but listens when told to move away.Emma generally has the run of the house and she deals well with separation. She goes into her crate when told to at night, but she will mumble a complaint for a few minutes. She much prefers sleeping with our son when he is at home. She is also crated during our work day, only because she will make a mess with the recycle bin once she knows she is alone. Emma is always quietly waiting for our return each day. She has never had an accident in the house, but we do take her out for her tiny walks about every 2 1/2 hours when she is not crated. She is a joy to walk - it is like leading a balloon on a string. She prefers very short walks and shows no interest in playing with dog toys. We do not know how Emma behaves around children so we can only say that she suits adults fine, especially those that are more stay-at-home and not “hiking and camping” people.Emma would be best suited in a home with older children over the age of 16- no dogs- no catsEmma is being fostered in Toronto
