Posted Breed: Weimaraner (short coat). Stella is a nice, sweet dog that loves to chill and sleep. The Vet's office has said that she is the quietest weim they have ever seen! She gets along great with all other dogs and is likely ok with cats. She will need a quiet, sedentary home where she can spend time with her people. She loves car rides and snuggling.
She had several tumors recently removed, including one on her foot, but she is fully recovered from surgery and the biopsy results have come back with clean margins.
Stella is 11 years old and is being fostered in Indiana.

Ember May Ju...

rescue
Breed: Weimaraner
Sex: Female Female
Age: Baby
Location: USA
Posted Breed: Weimaraner (medium coat). Ember is a vivacious, goofy and fluffy 8 month old longhair weimaraner. She is currently 50 lbs and still growing! Ember was born with megaesphagus, also called megaE or ME. Ember’s foster mom strongly encourages those seriously thinking of adopting her to research the condition thoroughly. She is on a prescription diet (about $180/mo) that she will need to continue on throughout her lifetime. She requires 4x/day feedings every four hours to manage regurgitation. Her food is a mixture of canned food and water soaked dry kibble puréed in a blender. Ember takes her meals in a Bailey Chair, called “upright time”. She needs to remain in her chair for 30 minutes after eating to let gravity do it’s thing. While she receives a good portion of her hydration though the puréed food, after vigorous play, hikes, hot weather she requires additional H2O. Ember regurgitates water and will not drink water with Thick-It. Frozen Knox blocs meet this need. These are given while she is in her Bailey Chair and only needs 10 minutes of upright time. *Aspiration pneumonia is always a concern with ME dogs. It requires vigilance and quick treatment. Ember has had one episode-when she was initially diagnosed. The average for ME dogs is 1-2x/ year* Ember wears a cage/mask of sorts on her snout when she is outdoors off-leash. She is a typical curious puppy exploring the world with her mouth. She loves twigs, grass, dirt, rabbit poo... Unfortunately, anything that she ingests outside of the Bailey Chair is regurgitated, exposing her to increased aspiration pneumonia risk. The mask still allows her to lick things that she can/will regurgitate so all outdoor time must be supervised. Sweet Ember is so much more than her ME! She wakes up early with vigor and enthusiasm that doesn’t wain until the evening. She loves her walks 2x/day with her 2 weim pals and engaging in play with them. The dog park and State Park trails also float her boat. Ember is prone to roughhousing, she is a puppy after all. Her favorite roughhouse “move” is something akin to a WWE pile driver much to the chagrin or delight of the other dogs. Depends on who you talk to. Lol. Ember can be shy in new situations and needs a minute or two get her bearings. She is very talkative and will let you know that if she needs something... any hour of the day. Her enthusiasm for life can be overwhelming for older dogs and more sedate pups. Ember is crate trained and housebroken. She is a bit sketchy with her basic commands including recall. While she recognizes the commands her follow through lacks without benefit of treat reward training. Apparently cuddles only gets you so far. This will be an ongoing process. Sites that provide comprehensive information/support: caninemegaesophagusinfo (look under menu for topics) Upright Canine Brigade *Group found on FB* They have info under the files tab and members who will happily share their knowledge, experiences and troubleshoot issues as they arise. There is a wealth of information from veterinary groups and the like if you google canine megaesophagus. Ember does well with kids but due to her enthusiasm and growing size she would do best in a household with kids over the age of 10 years old. It is unknown how Ember would do with cats but given her condition it is best that she does not live in a home with litter boxes. Poo is just too tempting for her. *Ugh* Ember loves other dogs but not all dogs love her. Her zest for life can overwhelm older pups and dogs who prefer a calm atmosphere. She is still learning boundaries. She is a calm when riding in the car, mostly sleeps even on short rides. Ember wears a harness that hooks into a seatbelt.

Posted Breed: Weimaraner (short coat). Adoption Fee: 350.00. Reeves sustained a back injury at some point in life that received no medical treatment. His back fused together on its own. For months he was left unable to walk. Despite the shelter vets decision to put him down and our vets opinion that he would never walk due to his injury, he is walking somewhat unassisted in just under 2 months. He is doing slow kill for his heartworms, but all his other blood work is normal and other wise very healthy average dog that loves to play ball fetch, and snuggle in your lap. He still needs some help in the bathroom department, we are hopeful as he gains more use of his legs his lack of potty habits will grow with him. So overall there isn't any expensive medication he needs, just someone that can spend time, understand his needs and love him for who he is. Apply greenerdaysAR.rescuegroups Adoption fee 350.00

Posted Breed: Weimaraner. He is a 5 year old blue Weim, an amazingly good dog and sweet boy. The former owners surrendered him because they had a 1.5 and 3.5 year old. He sometimes gets protective of his toys and growls and, being kids, they would come up to him reaching for his face and he had an instance where he snapped at one of them. In addition they weren't able to give him much personal time and attention as they were focused on the kids and also didn't want to have to feel like she had to worry about how the kids interacted with him. We have been in contact and there is 3 1/2 year old that is very sad to have lost him. The family that he came from had one parent that worked from home and they had never taken a vacation so he had literally not been alone from them. They used to kennel him as a puppy however have had him free roam. They said he was not destructive at all in the house however he loves toys and "nibbles" on his blankets...basically making them very "holy"...but that being said it was confined to his blankets on his dog bed. He loves toys and chew toys! At the house where he was, he was not allowed to be on the couch or beds...at our place he has made himself at home on the couch and is quite content on his bed at night, or just sleeps in the living room on the couch. When someone comes to the door he barks quite loud and deep. In addition, if he is left alone he also barks, but then quiets down when no-one comes for him. I have been bringing him to work with me during the day, and he has bonded very strongly with me and adapts well to people around him. At my work, he is exposed to a good number of new people. Depending on how someone approaches him, he can be a little defensive and growl but it's a very natural response from the situations I've witnessed...he usually just engages playfully with most everyone. He has been through a lot in the last week and is still adjusting. The only times I've noticed he has been unpredictable is if he is confronted with strangers who approach him too fast when in his personal space, if he has a bone and doesn't want it taken away or when he has tried to claim the bed as his own (which I had let him up on the bed and then told him to get down when my spouse wasn't on the same page) and it was in the middle of the night so I might have caught him off guard ...however I have easily been able to assert myself as the pack leader and he has respected the boundaries well. At the dog park, he is very social and does well with other dogs and does not get aggressive at all, even when faced with a dog that wants to assert control. He is very excitable, when people around him have excitable energy...but then he also adapts well to low energy environments and just "hangs" with us at night when we are home. He will let you know when he has to go out and is very well behaved at home and when out and about. He does really well traveling in the car. He will paw at the window if he wants it down but does great when I go into stores; he isn't destructive and doesn't bark. He waits patiently. He is an amazing dog. He likes to be around his people and I don't know how well he would do if he were left alone for extended periods of time...he would definitely do well in a house where someone was home and I think he would be fine with kids as long as the kids were 7 years or older and understood boundaries and could use judgement (the prior owner confirmed this as well). Apparently he is good with cats, but I haven't confirmed this myself. He does well on a 16 foot retractable leash and even off leash he does well...he runs ahead and comes back. He is an excellent dog, very sweet, goofy and an amazing weim! Any couple or family will be very blessed to have him. I get the sense that he would do well with another dog. At the dog park he engaged well with all of the other dogs. There was one dog outside of the dog park, in a one on one setting, that was smaller that he was asserting himself as the dominant dog...putting his butt in their face and was standing over them. He does well in situations where we give him boundaries and I’m assuming he would respect the boundaries another dog sets. If the older dog was entirely submissive I could see him using his influence to claim toys but I don’t see any red flags with his interaction with other dogs.

Posted Breed: Weimaraner. Bonded pair Malu (8) and Atticus (10), one female, one male, came in to rescue as the result of a divorce. They are located in Michigan and we will only place them as a pair since they are bonded and one is dependent on the other. Although they have not lived with cats, we think one would be fine, and one would need a supervised introduction.
