    Buckley

    rescue
    Breed: Golden Retriever-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Golden Retriever / Mixed (long coat). Meet Buckley! Buckley is a gentle giant – well, not really a giant, but he does weigh 110 pounds! He’s truly one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. Buckley is an 8-year-old English Golden Retriever. He’s neutered and up-to-date on shots. Buckley is very easy-going and gets along with both dogs and cats. We’re not sure about kids, but chances are he’d love them too! Buckley is playful and often carries one of his toys around. He is crate trained. He would benefit from regular exercise (like many of us, he needs to lose a few pounds!) Buckley has a thyroid condition which is managed with medication. His hips bother him a bit, so a home with a minimum number of stairs would be a good fit for Buckley. Is sweet, gentle Buckley and good match for you? Go to our website (.nebraskanokill) and complete an adoption application. Buckley can’t wait to meet you! If you would like to meet Buckley, please contact infonebraskanokill Suggested adoption donation: $150.00

  • Mutt Dog For Adoption in Gretna, NE, USA

    Dallas

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler. Adoption Fee: $375. German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (.heartlandgsrescue) "Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?" for additional information. Dallas is an adorable 7 month-old Australian Cattle Dog (aka Red Heeler) puppy and a very bright, energetic young boy. He loves being on the go! He enjoys car rides, playing fetch, chew toys and bones, and playing with other dogs. Dallas would love to have a dog buddy in his forever home! Dallas is a typical Heeler puppy and is still learning not to mouth or jump up to greet you. He is house-trained and knows "sit", "shake" with both front paws, is recently mastered "down" and "leave it". He is a smart cookie! Dallas has a lot of energy and loves to play, but as long as he gets adequate exercise, he will settle down nicely in the house with a bone or chew toy, and he is good at entertaining himself with toys. Dallas enjoys walks and exploring, and might make a great hiking partner! Dallas is a very loving and happy boy who will make an active adopter very happy. Dallas' adoption fee is $375, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (treated if positive), and microchipped. Learn more about the adoption process and requirements, and apply at: heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups/info/adoption. Please review the information in the "About Us", "Important Considerations" and "Adopt" sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.

    Ryder

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Border Collie
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Border Collie (medium coat). Please contact Rose (japchinrosegmail) for more information about this pet. Ryder is a 2 year old border collie that was not doing well in a shelter environment so we were asked to help. Ryder is around 2 years old and super smart and loves to snuggle. He is OK with other calm dogs but doesn't like them in his face. He will ignore cats outside but if they run from him, he will chase so no cats is probably best. He has been around older kids and is great with all people. His dioes however, have some motion sensitivity and will bark and try to chase cars. We think because of this, a quiet home in the country might be the best place for him. Here are some things his foster mom has to say about him. "He is a gentle dog, loves pets, loves belly rubs, and loves to be in the same room as me. He does not have food aggression or toy aggression that I’ve seen. He loves to be outside and enjoyed the walks we took (limited due to weather). He walks VERY well on leash, however does bark and lunge at passing cars. He does have some anxiety when people come up to, pass by, or come in the house. He barks and jumps. He does start panting. We worked on being calm with positive reinforcement with treats to help with jumping. I actually saw some progress too! It isn’t angry or aggressive barking, he is just loud and vocal. We have a fenced in backyard, but I think Ryder would do very will with a larger backyard with a place to really run! He has so many positives going for him! 1. He knows “no” 2. Lets me touch his feet and paws 3. Does not chew on shoes, furniture, or clothes 4. He takes treats very well, does not bite fingers 5. Eats his food slow 6. Know clicker training, sit, down, stay, leave it 7. Loves deer antlers" To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $225 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs. We do not ship dogs. All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranaged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try email first. Paxton

    Breed: Australian Shepherd
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd / Labrador Retriever (short coat). Please contact Rose (japchinrosegmail) for more information about this pet. Paxton is a young mix of either Aussie or perhaps border collie with something large like a labrador. He was found and taken to a small rural shelter. When no one claimed him after several months, the shelter asked for rescue help. Paxton has learned basic manners such as sit, lay down, shake, and is working on leave it, not jumping and walking nicely on a leash. Paxton would do best in a home that is active and can exercise his brain. Paxton would do best in a home with no small children as he can get a little busy and is still jumpy. Paxton has a fun outgoing personality. He enjoys being where the people are. He likes to play fetch and run around outside. Paxton is learning manners in the home such as not getting into the trash or on the counters. He is doing well in his foster home who try to keep him busy with bones and mental exercises. Paxton is house and kennel trained. Paxton can be a little pushy with play but is good with other dogs. He has not been tested with cats. To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $225 donation is requested at the time of adoption. Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever (short coat). Willie is a one year old full lab. He is a sweet boy. LOVES TOYS (a little too much). He is house trained. He does need a yard and someone who is active. He has A LOT of ENERGY. Willie knows several commands but he lacks focus on much more then what he wants. He will need a home that will committee to on going training. He has not been around cats so we have no idea if Willie will chase or not. He will play with dogs best if his size because he is a lot of dog. He does have some anxiety in a kennel. He will also bark at strangers on the other side of the fence (training will help with this behavior). He is NOT an apartment dog. Posted Breed: Dachshund / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Abbie is a cute little girl with the best big ears. She is about 3 years old. She came from a shelter in Kansas when she was pregnant. She is a doll. She is good with older kids ( she likes hands so little kids might think she is biting). She loves to run in the yard. With this weather and having puppies her housetraining is a bit off. If let out in the yard enough she seems to do pretty good. On a leash well she prefers to go out quick and back in and not really do everything so we are using pads. She likes to play with toys. She is good with dogs he own size and cats. To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $250 donation is requested at the time of adoption. Copper

    Breed: Labrador Retriever-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Copper is still waiting for his new home... Copper is a sweet guy with a sad story. Copper lived his life in an outdoor pen with a more dominant dog. Copper’s owner didn’t always take very good care of the dogs, and the neighbors frequently fed them. Finally, the authorities intervened and took the dogs out of their miserable “home”. But amazingly, Copper isn’t holding any grudges, and he’s enjoying being an indoor dog! He’s very sweet and gentle and just wants to stay close to humans. His foster says he’s a big cuddle-bug! We think Copper is a lab mix, around 7 years old, and weighs 55 pounds. He’s now neutered, and up-to-date on shots. He does well when walking on a leash, and also enjoys jogging with his foster. He’s a medium-energy dog, who enjoys being a couch potato at home. Copper gets along with other dogs, and seems to just ignore cats. Copper doesn’t like to be left alone, so we’re working slowly on crate-training. Look at that beautiful, kind face. Can you give Copper his happy ending? We can’t wait to get Copper settled in his forever home! If you would like to meet this sweet guy, please contact infonebraskanokill Suggested adoption donation: $150.00

Please review the section on our website (.heartlandgsrescue) "Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?" for additional information. We went to pull an urgent GSD from the shelter, and saw poor Winter there: sweet, gorgeous, and also out of time. Winter was picked up as a stray, with her coat shaved in some places, and no one came for her. As if that wasn't sad enough, she appeared to be mid-to-late term pregnant. One of our fabulous foster couples who greatly loves both GSDs and Huskies, agreed to foster Winter so that we could rescue her. A month after she arrived in her foster home, Winter gave birth to 5 adorable puppies: Brownie, Cookie, Krispie, Pie, and Pudding. Winter's puppies have all found great homes. Now it's Winter's turn to find a wonderful forever home of her own! Winter is an approximately 2 year old Siberian Husky. She loves being around other dogs and can get pretty much any dog to play with her! She enjoys rolling around in the snow, chasing her ball, avoiding air vents, barking at the vacuum, and playing tug. She is well behaved as long as she knows when to expect her meals! If her meal is too late, she will take matters into her own hands and search the counters- blueberry muffins are her favorite. She rarely jumps on people and is very tender-hearted. Her appreciation for any affection shown to her is obvious. She can be a little weary when being introduced to new things, but quickly learns to trust as long as you show her there's nothing to be afraid of. When she first came to rescue she was afraid to enter the house, walk through doorways, walk on hard floors, walk up and down stairs, and eat out of a metal bowl. In a short 3 months she has completely come out of her shell (with the help of her foster dog siblings, all of a similar size) and doesn't struggle in those areas anymore. Her favorite thing is her toy box and will dig around in it to find just the right toy to suit her current mood. She loves her humans and follows them closely... Sometimes too closely. You'll need to get used to walking around her because she doesn't always understand to move to the side. She walks well on leash especially considering her young age and Husky breed! She is one of the most photogenic pups you will find. Her face is very expressive and every picture of her deserves a worthy caption! Winter's adoption fee is $350, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (treated if positive), and microchipped.
