    ZOEY (SRC#19...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Poodle (Toy)-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Poodle (Toy) / Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (short coat). My name is ZOEY (SRC#1981) and I am between 3 and 4 years old. I weigh approximately 9 pounds. I am a mix between a Yorkie and a Poodle with Yorkie Ears and Poodle Fur. My color is silver or white and my fur is very curly . My original owners purchased me from a breeder as a Malti-Poo (mix between a Maltese and Poodle) for $1500 when I was a very tiny puppy so that I could be a companion dog for their senior poodle. Well to say that did not work out was an understatement! Here I was too little to leave my mom plus the dog that I was supposed to "play" with had absolutely NO energy so here I was with energy to spare and I was MISERABLE! No one else would play with me so I became very depressed. I started losing my fur and refused to eat. I did not care if I lived or died. The people who bought me decided just to get rid of me which actually turned out to be a good thing. They gave me to a rehab-shelter and I had some time to recover. When they saw that I was getting close to time to be adoptable, they contacted SRC to request that they help and of course they said yes! They are always willing to help dogs like me. Now, yes I can be a little bit tempermental if you don't give me time to adjust to you. Still if you give me time to get to know you and trust you, then you will have a real sweetheart! I love to hug the neck of my favorite human and I am like velcro once I know I can trust you -- still you better give me that time so that we can become great friends or I might never trust you! My vetting is complete. I am micro-chipped, have all my vaccinations, am heart-worm negative, been spayed and will be evaluated for 2 weeks by my foster family who are located in Columbia, SC. I am told that my foster mom, Jackie knows how to help dogs like me so I think we will be great friends very soon. Here is what her foster mom Jackie has to say about her already: Zoey is an impish funny adorable little girl. She is a Yorkie poodle mix. She is a feisty cute girl with Yorkie ears and Poodle fur. Zoey is a extremely petite girl with a Darling spunky personality. She is a little afraid of my cats yet she runs circles around them! Zoey is house trained and crate trained. She sleeps at night in her crate in our bedroom yet her favorite place to sleep is on the top of my head! Everyone loves meeting her. She is on guard with men yet she is not as afraid as her friend, Shelby (1980) but still barks at her foster Dad, Larry . Zoey most definitely prefers women but will come around to a man in the family. Zoey is a smart and confident little girl that will melt your heart. This tiny girl may be no bigger than a minute yet her personality is huge! (SRC#1981) ZOEY's Story ZOEY with this unique identification number: (SRC#1981) came into SRC care recently and is being prepared for adoption by a foster family who have gone thru our approval process. This poor little girl has already been through a lot in her short lifetime so we are looking for a patient and loving person to adopt her. Perhaps that person is you? We at SRC just want her to have that loving home she deserves. When ready for adoption this dog will be heart-worm tested (negative), de-wormed, vaccinations brought up to date, spayed/neutered if not done already, micro-chipped, examined fully by a vet and any necessary medical issues found by this vet will have been addressed. It is anticipated that this dog will be released for adoption by the same date as the completion of the Evaluation. The date of release of this dog is at the discretion of the SRC Core Team. THIS DOG IS BEING FOSTERED IN COLUMBIA, SC AND YOU SHOULD BE WILLING TO DRIVE TO THAT LOCATION IN ORDER TO PICK THE DOG UP THERE WHEN SHE IS ADOPTED. Tax-deductible donation requested at time of adoption for this dog is $375 PLEASE READ PRIOR TO APPLYING When ready for adoption, this canine will have been evaluated for at least two weeks by loving SRC foster parents who will be able to give the adoptive parents their opinion about the demeanor of the family companion prior to the adoptive parents finalizing their adoption of this canine. All our SRC volunteers strive to do this for the well-being of their rescued canine and to assure a successful adoption. It is our worthy mission to assure that each canine rescued by SRC is placed in a loving, stable and permanent home whose family members will treat it as a beloved member of their immediate family. We are prepared to assure that all of our rescued dogs are in great homes or we will reclaim them if necessary. SRC’s rescued dogs are placed in foster homes throughout NC, SC, TN, and VA until they are adopted. These same states are SRC's approved adoption areas so please do not apply unless you live in one of these states. You must be willing to drive to the dog's foster home in order to adopt the canine. The location of each dog is listed at the bottom of its bio. BEFORE meeting an SRC dog, you must be approved to adopt by our Placement Team. Our downloadable Adoption Application is on our web site at .schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas/_files/SRC_APP_082013.doc and may be submitted via email or fax (1-910-401-1317). You may request an Adoption Application to email address: adoptionsschnauzerrescueofthecarolinas Upon receipt of your application, a vet reference check will be done and if the vet check is satisfactory then a home visit will be done. The entire process may take up to seven days, depending on your location and the number of applications being processed at that time. Please plan on welcoming your new dog into your home within two weeks after approval. We cannot hold dogs because this limits our intake of others in need; SRC adopts them out on a first-come, first-serve basis based on a completed approved adoption process. If you are unable to accept your adopted dog within this time frame then SRC will go to the next approval and place with someone able to give the rescue a home within the proper time frame. SRC does not ordinarily adopt its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. Exceptions are sometimes made on a case by case basis but only when the dog has been raised with children and the children are very respectful of animals. This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children. Procedures will be explained to you at the time of approval regarding donation and contract. Your donation is made in honor of the adoption of your new family companion and is never a purchase of an animal. This tax deductible donation goes forward to help incoming rescued dogs. Our average total expense per dog includes but is not limited to the list of expenses shown below. Here is a break-down of the average expenses spent on SRC dogs to assure they remain healthy and happy as they are prepared for adoption: Office Visit $45-60; Fecal $14-36; Rabies $14-36; DHPP $14-36; Bordatella $14-36; Heart-worm, Lyme, Ehrliccia Testing $30-55; Heart-worm Preventative $42 per month; Spay or Neuter $200-$500; Total Basic Vetting $478- $765; ADDITIONAL VETTING: Teeth Cleaning $300 - $550; Blood Panel $120 -$185; Cherry Eye $300-$500; Urinary Tract Infection $90-$150; Heart-worm Treatment $300-$900; Luxating Patellas $1,800 per leg; Cruciate Surgery $1,200 per leg; Entropian Surgery $250-$500; Demodectic Mange $200 per month; X-Ray $80 - $120; Ultrasound: $350; Cataract Surgery $1800 - $3500; Boarding $350 per month per dog SRC wants to thank you for your interest in our rescued dogs. We put our heart and souls into saving their lives. Often the medical expense, time and effort expended to help these dogs, far outweighs the minimal donation requested to adopt these innocent ones. Please understand SRC is limited in the number of dogs in our safe haven and if you are not selected to adopt one of them, it is not a reflection on your ability to provide a good home for a canine, simply our lack of ability to provide for the overwhelming demand from applicants. SRC urges you to pursue rescue -- it is definitely a worthy mission even if you do not adopt from SRC.

Posted Breed: Coonhound / German Shorthaired Pointer / Mixed. Wanted: Human that will take me hiking and jogging! I'm a three year old boy that is potty trained, friendly, and enjoys adventures out on the town (my foster dad takes me to something called a brewery, I think it's a place where people come specifically to pet me so I love it!). Oh and in case you were curious about my name, PSB stands for Pumpkin Spice Barkke because I joined the rescue during PSL season but most people just call me Pumpkin. Here is what my foster dad has to say about me: "Something important to know about him - he absolutely LOVES other dogs and going to the dog park. You know that person at the party that has to become friends with everyone? Well that's Pumpkin at the dog park! He'll make friends with the little chihuahua, he'll make friends with the giant mastiff, he'll make friends with the puppy having their first trip to the park.....he just loves them all!! Of course he knows who provides the food so he loves humans too. Once he's tired he enjoys getting close to me so he can enjoy some good ear rubs which I love because his ears are silky soft." I'd love having an energetic doggy sibling but would also do fine in a home where I can gets lots of interacting with my humans. A fenced in yard would be absolutely heavenly too! Must love quiet, rainy days on the couch, laughing at my antics and going on long walks/hikes.  Must like complicated guys and be clever enough to outwit me!   A little about me? Well, I am a snuggle aficionado, a bit of a comedian,  an avowed Cat Hater, and an Adults-Only kinda guy. Like most fabulous things, I come with an operator's manual. What's mine is mine, and whatever you drop on the floor is mine too! What's that new fangled term? Oh! "Mindful"...you must be a mindful person, because if you forget my rules of engagement, I will chomp your fingers...HARD! My temporary human says I am the smartest guy in the world (no exaggeration!), and I agree.  I learn really fast, and she has taught me to "give it up" for a yummy treat. I come with 2 free sessions with a behaviorist and ongoing support from my foster mom.   If you're my match, I promise to love you for the entirety of my life, make you chortle on a daily basis, bring the fun into your home, and teach you new things! If you want to fall in love, shoot me an email at Rosebudsantorigmail to tell me a little bit about you, or fill out my application at mountainpetrescueavl.   Cheers, Benny Thanks to Sheryl Mann for the photo of Benny in front of the pink background!
