FOSTER HOME NEEDED Statistics Name: Zander Breed: Basenji - Pit Bull Terrier Mix Age: 1 Year Size: Medium 40 lbs. ~Medium range: 26-60 lbs Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, NO Cats, Older considerate children only Zander is full of spunk and wants someone to enjoy life with! Foster Home Feedback * NO Cats, Older considerate children only 4/11/18: Meet Zander – Zander is a young playful guy that is looking for his forever home. He loves to play fetch and chew up his tennis balls. He hasn’t quite learned how to drop the ball on the return though. Zander is young at heart and needs to learn some basic obedience. He will need someone to work with him on this to shape him into a wonderful boy. Since he has been living in a shelter setting for many months he does have some quirks we are working on. He has tested well with other dogs; however, he gets overly excited to see them if he cannot get to them in close proximity. This is something we are working on; as he feels it should always be play time. Due to his high play drive and the need for obedience training, he is listed as older children only. Daily mental and physical exercise are a must for Zander. Zander has been in a foster short term since coming to the rescue. He crates very well and is usually quiet. He sleeps through the night and is not destructive in his kennel. Zander has also proven to be potty trained. 3/18/18: Zander is a spunky little guy, with lots of energy! He knows how to sit and is very treat and toy motivated. He’s super smart and would be a great candidate for basic obedience class. He loves to play with toys, chase balls and chew on bones! Zander’s pretty good at keeping himself entertained, but I think he would be a great running buddy. Or long walks on the beach (or in the snow) if you are into that sort of thing. He, unfortunately, spent 60 days in a regional pound, which is not ideal for a young, energetic dog! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip ** Kyler suffers from skin allergies and Cushing's Disease (hyperadrenocorticism), which is a result of chronic overproduction of excess hormones from the adrenal glands. He will need to be on medications for life to manage these conditions. These medications cost about $195 a month. Kyler is the boy for you! Foster Home Feedback 3/28/18: Hi, it’s me, Kyler. I’m the one on the right, with my friend Daisy. I am loving the warmer weather, so I can play outside with my buddies. I have learned how to use the stairs. They used to scare me, but my foster mom showed me how to use them. (Yea Foster Mom and yea me!) I am very sweet, laid back & get along with everyone. Check me out! 1/14/18: My name is Kyler. I love to play with my friend Daisy, snuggling in my bed, romping in the yard (when the weather is nice) and chewing on my Kong toy. I take medicine daily for my Cushings. I am potty trained, I’m pretty quiet & low key, and I kennel up. I do have a hard time with steps; they scare me. My foster mom carries me down to the fenced in yard. I like a “quieter” house, not sure on cats but maybe possible. My foster mom tells me I’m WONDERFUL!! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, NO Cats Gendry would like to be your boy! Foster Home Feedback * NO Cats 3/13/18: Gendry has loved running and playing in the snow but he is also very excited for the weather to change so he can go on long walks again and explore! Just mentioning the word 'walk' around him gets him so excited. On his adventures, he has come across many dogs and all he wants to do is play and run around with them. After Gendry is finished exploring, he is always SUPER tired and ready for a long, snored filled nap. He takes his best naps cuddled right up on someone; he still thinks he is a lap dog. Gendry is so AMAZING in his kennel. He doesn't make a peep and goes right to sleep. When we go get his nails trimmed, he is very well behaved and relaxed. He knows he gets a treat at the end. Gendry is a true prince! 1/28/18: We have had the pleasure of having this gentle giant in my home for about 4 months now, and he has to be one of the biggest sweeties ever. One of Gendry's favorite things to do is grab one of his many toys and push them off the bed and chase after them. We have not introduced him to cats because his last foster said he does not do so well so, NO CATS! But other than that, he does great with other dogs, even ones that bully him. He will just walk away. Since Gendry is not a barker, he expresses his feeling through his big brown eyes and strong tail. When it comes to kenneling Gendry, a wire kennel does not work. He finds a way to get out every time, even if it is ratchet strapped and zip tied together. We have found that the full plastic kennel with ratchet straps around it has kept him in. When we got him he was not trained, but in the past few months, we have been working very hard on the basics. So far we have got Gendry to "sit", "wait", "off", and recently got him to "lay down". Although he knows what "off" means it does not mean he wants to get down every time because he loves being where ever you are. Gendry is so amazing with children, he views them as his best friend and just wants to play. He has a very gentle mouth and wouldn't hurt a fly. Gendry's favorite time of day is bedtime time; he loves climbing into bed and snoring all night long. Once he is asleep, he will sleep through the entire night and he will not move at all. Gendry is also one of the biggest cuddle bugs you can find and has no boundaries what so ever. Gendry would be a wonderful dog for your family! 10/28/17: I've only had Gendry for three days and it's hard to believe he acted like a puppy when I first brought him home. I would now describe him as a gentle giant (who doesn't know how big he is) that loves people!!! Gendry does not like cats, not even pretend cats. He likes to play toys with my 6-year-old son and will play his version of fetch with me Gendry likes to get a hug before he will release the ball. We are working on "drop". He loves to be hugged and massaged. He will entertain himself for an hour or so with bones or toys. Gendry prefers to be near his people. He will take a nap on his blankets or in his bed; he will even use a toy as a pillow. Oh, and he can snore. It's not too loud...it's adorable. Gendry is a fast learner. He knows "sit", "down" and "sit up" which is our version of a puppy sit-up. He is working on "shake" & "speak". We have also worked on "off" and he does OK when it comes to the sofa but it is a challenge to get him off the bed. Once he is comfortable, Gendry is dead weight and he looks at you with his eyes that seem to say "Please?????". Now that we have a doggie bed for him he does like to lay in that and chew on his chew toys. We love to go for walks using a walking harness (the volunteers at the shelter started using with him); Gendry is learning to walk with me instead of pulling me. He still has a way to go, but in the three days we've been working on it, he has come a long way. We do walk to the elementary school to get my son in the afternoon. Gendry loves the attention he gets from the students. I did try to use a wire kennel for Gendry but he learned how to escape within minutes. During his hour of freedom, he did check out the garbage and move (without chewing) a few of our shoes to a different room. He also played with his toys while I was gone. I now just leave him in my bedroom with a few of his favorite chew toys. Or I take him with me. In the car, he should be tethered or you may find him trying to drive with you. I also need to mention Gendry is a handsome dog! He has tiger-like markings on his back that are very unique. His face is expressive and his quirky ears add to his personality. Whenever we meet someone new, they comment on his beauty. I am so excited for Gendry to find his forever home. Other: Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip, Older considerate children only Fiji is good with little dogs (but not big dogs) and would love a forever home! Foster Home Feedback * Older considerate children only 4/8/18: "Excuse me. I notice your lap is empty. Might I possibly sit in your lap? I'm a sweet little dog that likes to cuddle. I just want to be close to you so I never feel alone again." Fiji is a little dancing Chihuahua she's so cute in her tutu. ( like in her Pictures). She likes to chase the little squirrel's in my backyard. It's so funny to watch her. Fiji likes walks and car rides she's always ready to go. She does get along with small dogs but if she was the only dog in the house she would like that. That way Fiji would get more attention and love. If I am petting my dog she comes over and growls; she doesn't want me to touch my dog. I think she gets jealous. When I feed her, I have to separate her from my dogs because if any of my dogs get close to her while she's eating, she will growl at them to get away. She has had a few potty accidents but is doing very well as long as you let her outside she will do her thing. You do have to stand and wait for her to potty or she will not go. Fiji is waiting for you! Get your application in. She's ready to play with you. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Statistics Name: Dan Breed: Redbone Coonhound Age: 9 Years Size: Large 73 lbs. ~Large range: 61-100 lbs Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, NO Cats ** Dan qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors Program. If you qualify and are interested in participating in this program, please fill out an application online and type "SENIOR" after your name. Dan would love to be your boy! Apply today! Foster Home Feedback * NO Cats 4/2/18: Dan is awesome! Dan loves his human, and loooooves to snuggle. He is a hound, so he has the characteristic baying bark, which is adorable but he doesn't do it a lot. Dan LOVES to be outside, even with all of the snow lately. The fresh powder gives him the zoomies! On walks, he keeps his nose to the ground and does exceptionally well with an EZ Walk Harness. Dan was not fond of his kennel when he first got to my foster home, but he now kennels like a dream (with a proper bribe)! He does not bark or whine or try to escape. (It should be noted that his kennel is probably the comfiest room in the house!) Dan has some resource guarding issues with food. He and my resident dogs have gotten into a few scuffles, so they are fed separately. While Dan is considered a senior, he can easily scale a 4-foot fence, and has figured out how to open the fence latches! I have him on a long tether and he does just fine with that. Under supervision, he does fine untethered with gentle reminders ("Hey! Where do you think you're going!?") to not attempt escape; I think he'd absolutely love freedom in a yard with a taller fence, though. Again, Dan is amazing. He is so loving, eager to please, hilarious, and as a bonus, his fur is super soft. Adopting a senior dog may seem scary, but he will keep you on your toes! Please give Dan a chance, he really is amazing. 1/15/18: Dan is a great dog. He is kind and gentle with my small dogs, housebroken and very good in the house. Although he is a bit older, he acts like a pup. Dan likes to play chase with the other dogs. Dan would do best in a home with a fenced yard because he is quite tall and loves to chase squirrels and rabbits - but he can scale a 4 ft fence, so it needs to be nice and tall! Dan loves being outside but it is just too cold out for him to be out too long as his hair is very short. We do not kennel him as he is very good in the house. Dan usually sleeps on the loveseat but does like to take his nap on our bed. He has one ear that looks like it was burned; even has a burn hole completely through it but it does not seem to bother him. He is very laid back and sweet. Please consider Dan as he would be a great addition to any home. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Foster Home Feedback 4/16/18: Blake came to his foster with a face full of porcupine quills and lots of love to give! Blake is good with other dogs and kids but tends to want to jump up and give hugs so he should be watched around small children until he is trained to stay off. Blake lives with a cat in his foster home and pretty much ignores him but does not get a lot of contact, so should have slow intros with other cats. He also had pretty bad manners (his foster doesn't think he has ever lived indoors) but he is learning very quickly and is very eager to please! He now knows he is not allowed to jump up on counters or take food directly off your plate. We are working on potty training which is going well, once he figures out what is wanted from him, he really wants to make that happen! No accidents in the house for about 3 days now! Blake loves to cuddle and really only wants head scratches and love. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip, Older considerate children only Sweetie is very friendly and a smaller stature dog Foster Home Feedback 4/18/18: Sweetie continues to be a complete sweetheart! She loves attention and will nose at your hand if she thinks you should pet her more. Sweetie can be a nervous dog in new situations and around other dogs, but she’s great with all people she’s met. She’s made one new friend, our neighbor dog we sometimes watch. While Sweetie wasn’t certain about her at first, she warmed up after a few hours. Even though Sweetie can be energetic at times herself, she seems to prefer calmer dogs who will give her space until she decides they aren’t a threat to her. Hopefully, as she builds confidence she'll get better about this, as she is dog-friendly with proper, slow introductions and time. Sweetie has really warmed up to our dogs and has started playing with them. She sometimes will chase after the ball or frisbee in our yard but usually thinks it’s more fun to chase our dogs when they go after it. Sweetie likes laying in her kennel, but she’s been so good that she has free reign of the whole house now when we are gone. We just leave the kennel open for her to lay in when she chooses. Sweetie is such a fun, loving dog that just needs someone with a little patience to continue to work with her and show her life isn’t so scary! 1/25/18: Sweetie lives up to her name and is such a sweet dog! She’s still very puppyish and energetic, but once she calms down she’s the best cuddler. We are working on learning to not jump so much and to be less mouthy when playing. Due to this, Sweetie should go to a home with adults only or with older, considerate children who understand she’s just playing. She is very treat motivated and does know “Sit” and “Shake” so hopefully “Off” will click soon. Sweetie has loved all the people she has met but has been a little nervous around new dogs. She would do best with slow introductions where she can observe the other dog for awhile, and the other dog should be pretty solid with her being somewhat assertive when she does meet them. Sweetie is currently living with two other dogs and is doing great after we gave her time to decompress. With proper introductions, she would do well with a dog companion but we also think she would have no problem being an only dog as she definitely prefers attention from us versus playing with the other dogs. Sweetie was heartworm positive and completed treatment the beginning of December. She will need one follow up check in June. Sweetie will be a wonderful companion for the lucky person/family that adopts her! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org
